Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Just to report that a 2010 Vista QJD has seen an evaporator coil failure ; in less than two years.

Wonder where we are heading in terms of quality.

Hi vigsom,

As I mentioned somewhere before, evaporator coil does not fail, it develops leaks. Do you happen to know where the leak is?. Because, mostly, improper mounting/handling causes leaks around the joints, and A.S.S. usually replace the whole unit.

Please let me know.

How does one come to know that the evaporator coil has developed a leak?

Refrigerent will leak, and cooling efficiency will go down.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

My Qjd is less than 2 years old and has covered 45K kms now. Engine check light and glow plug light came up the other night. Took the car to TASC. Heater coil replaced. Everything back to normal. Thank God I have the extended warranty as well !!

My friend's cooling coil has also developed a leak, feb/mar 2010 vista QJD done 20k kms and serviced just a week before the a/c started acting up.
It is being replaced under warranty according to wasan motors, Kandivalli.

I had feeling its a one off incident untill i read your post.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Hi @dhanushs and @hemen,

I found out about the evaporator coil on the Vista ; it seems the point at which the expansion valve is mounted on the coil was leaking - material deformation 'coz of bad mounting ; could this happen at the assembly line?can't believe it.

Hi vigsom,

My friend experienced some hissing noise before the 20k service and had complained about it to the service advisor. He found the expansion valve was faulty and had replaced it under warranty after which the leak developed within 4-6 days. I will confirm with him whether this had lead to the leak.

I will come to know the actual reason only when he receives the car today evening.

Ah.. This was exactly what I was saying. Being a TATA, I wouldnt be very surprised, if this happened at the factory. :P

Also, this reminds us one more thing: Follow up with the SA, and make sure that its mounted properly. Also make sure that all associated, nearby parts are mounted properly. Or else, we will be looking at another evaporator coil failure after a couple of years.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Hello Folks. Now this is not really a problem but a query from my side.

- Is anyone using any fuel additive (System D etc) in their diesel Vistas?

- If yes, any visible benefits from it?

- My 2.5 year old Vista Quadrajet is approaching 52K Kms and other than the regular servicing/engine oil changes i have not done anything else like decarbonising etc. Is that recommended now or not required?

All inputs are welcome. Thanks.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Today morning I started my 2 year 32k kms run vista quadrajet and suddenly noticed that the brake lever could be depressed quite easily and there was very little feedback or resistance from the lever, also the handbrake light would not go off in spite of the handbrake lever completely disengaged still tried to switch off and switch on the car back and did go a little forward to check the working of the brake.. the car would stop but after a lot of effort. parked the car back and went to office, could not call the TASC today due to busy schedule
What could be the problem Any suggestion...
Cheers!!

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

^^^
Brake fluid has leaked away.

It is not just a handbrake light but a 'something wrong with brakes' warning light.

@greenhorn - Thanks for the inputs.

Any inputs on carrying out the decarbonization of the engine. Is it recommended now after doing 52K Kms and should it be done at TATA A$$ only or are there any other places where it can be done like Castrol Pit Stop or Bosch etc?
