Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

@NFS-II, the cost for the front bumper is around Rs. 2100/- + tax + painting. I guess the splash guard will be charged extra, if it needs a replacement. The LHS fog lamp costs around Rs. 850/- + tax.

Thanks Arun & Kartikk. I had called up Concorde who estimated the repairs cost between 7-8k!

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

My vista has a new problem now! There seems to be a faint grinding noise and i can hear it very well at speeds below 20kmph.Its cyclic and goes like grrrrn...grrnnn.I fell that its originating from the wheels, but i might b wrong.

Moreover, since the 2nd service the road/tyre noise seems to be really high.Like there is a constant boom while at speeds below 60kmph.I dont know if i am just noticing it now or it existed from the time i bought it.The tyres are Goodyear's.Any clue on the above would be great!

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Sam, was there any wheel alignment, balancing, rotation or edge swapping done during the 2nd service? There was a similar issue with my Vista when TASC people did all the above. Kindly refer to my earlier post.

Sam, if its some rubbing noise have a check on whether the mud flaps is scraping the front wheels? In my case the mud flap had warped and was producing a rubbing noise when I used to steer left.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

My VISTA had a problem with AC. the ac water drains in to the car. Concorde cleaned it thrice. still the problem persists. It is happening only when AC blower is in third and fourth speed. with blower in 2 speed it does not happen.

what could be the cause of this?

The AC condenser capacity is 440 gm in Vista as against 660 gms in old indica.

@rkg, couple of possiblilies
  1. Air vents might be blocked as you say it is only at higher air speeds the water drains. I have heard cases where rats pick rags and push them up through the fresh air vent (if left open)
  2. Cracked drain pipe
  3. Higher humidity in air and the A/c is in fresh air mode. It is in this mode that the condensation more than when compared to the re-circulation mode.
Hope this helps in solving the puzzle.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

I'm due for oil change and currently using Mobil 1 which I had purchased from the authorised service center, I found the dealer for Mobil 1 in Bangalore(from another thread) who is currently selling same oil for far lesser. When I mention this to the dealer he says your warranty will be void if you change engine oil from anywhere else other than authorised service center. According to him since engine oil change will not be recorded in their CRM system they will consider this oil change as not done. Is this true ? Even if I use oil mentioned in the Owners Manual will the warranty be viod?

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

technically, there is a way out(and I've argued with them based on it once, but not sure if it will always work), but it needs your TASC to be cooperative.

the oil change has two components in the bill, the cost of the oil itself, and an item for engine oil & filter change, which is the labour charge. If the latter is there, you have some room for argument that it was done .
With the extended oil change intervals, I'm not sure how it worked. For me , my intervals were 10k, which would be done at the dealership, but I'd do a 5k oil change at a local place using other stuff. But not sure if it would work out with synth oils.

Another alternative is if you can get a mobil pack with a tata logo on it. Some TASC's accept those

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

This is crazy man, I dont understand their warranty policy, in spite of following exactly what is mentioned in the Owners Manual why and how does the warranty go void, completely beats me, anyways I'm trying my luck, its not the 1000 bucks that I save but just want to understand whats the point in having a Owners Manual if everything is going to be according to the whimps of the Service Advisor.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

the thing is, if they let everyone bring their own oil, every tom dick and harry would be bringing all sorts of crap ( not everyone in the world knows the difference between API CF4 and CH4) so its just simpler for them to standardize on what they have.

Plus they earn margins on the sale of the oil. Plus There was a rumor that the amount of engine oil bought by some dealership was a little less than what their bills to customers might indicate

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Finally its done, went to TASS for oil change, Mobil1 4L Can MRP is Rs.4800 (http://www.mobil1.in/products/product_0W40.aspx) they charged Rs.4035 for the same, though its still more than the retail outlet but services advisor claims warranty holds good, no amount of argument got me any closer to sourcing my own oil. After a lot of deliberation I got Wheel Alignment done at FOC, my argument was as a repeat customer of Mobil1 I must get some benefits as a personal user of the vehicle the service costs are too high.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Hi guys, I have a news which is both shocking & unexpected. The car has started rusting on the (boot) hatch door and rear right door.
Has any one experienced a similar problem in their Vista? If so what was the solution provided by the TASS? I am going to take the car tomorrow to the TASS but want to know what U guys suggest I should do.
I am worried that I was able to see the rust in these places but what about those nooks & crevices which are not visible to the eye? What if the rust has started there also?

None of the above conditions apply in this case. Because

AC was cleaned thrice ( after reporting the problem)
drain pipe is intact.
No chance of high humidity in the car. It is happening in recycle mode also. Actually car is mostly in recycle mode because in fresh air mode one did not feel AC at ll at mid afternoon.
