The Swift website doesn't list this option either. Maybe it's just a sticker job

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

Experts need a help. My cards right side indicator is not working after falling into a deep pothole. Bulb is not fused. I think one of the fuse is blown off. Can anyone help me to locate fuse box and check it?

The main fuse box is near the battery and there is another fuse box is under the steering wheel near the right leg where the bonnet release is located. Just looked up my owners manual.

You say pothole hit - Have a look at the tyres, rims and suspension. The tyres and wheels would have absorbed a large extent of that hit.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

Thanks Anurag. I will check this today. It was a deep one and i fell accidently. and underbody got minor hit i think. I was not fast and was driving carefully. After this incident only the indicator started showing strange behaviour. the display on dash board started blinking faster for right one and normal for left. When i checked indicator bulb, it look ok. Only front right one is not working
One over mirror and back is working. I need to go for a long drive on thursday, need to sort out asap.

As to what I can understand is that if the indicator is blinking faster than normal then out of the three bulbs (Front, ORVM and Rear) one of it is blown. You say the front is ot working so that is blown. First replace that bulb and then check if that solves then there lies the problem.

If the fuse was the problem the indicators would not have worked in the first place.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

The rear axle of my swift zdi 2013, was replaced under warranty. A particular sound was coming from the rear when I drive very slow over uneven surfaces. Don't know whether its a recall. A friend of mine also got the same replaced.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

Thanks Rahul. Will check it with nearest dealer.
A generic question to all. How long the lubrication for cars moving parts last. Especialy for the wheel bairings and other such parts When i did my first service at 10K with oil change, they just lubed door joints i remember. If i remember about buses and heavy vehicles, they need lubing frequestly. Can see lots of such shops as well near by trucks halting points. I mainly use my car in higways for trip to kerala and back which take 12-14 hours in speed range 80-110. Is there any DIY checks that i can do before such long trips

The wheel bearings are different for those vehicles. Cars have sealed type bearings which have the lubrication (mainly grease) inside it and it wont come outside. Truck's bearings have greasing point so it needs periodic greasing as the grease may become dirty (since the bearing won't be sealed) and there is some thing like an expiry period for the grease. You have to change them periodically. So when the truckwala pumps the new grease, the old grease will come out.

But as for cars, they don't need it.

Would it be possible for you to try and explain the sound? I have a Dzire and I get some noise when I go over uneven surfaces. The sound is similar to a rusted spring being stretched. I took it to the A S S and when I tried to recreate it, there was no sound while we tried over an extended period with the Mechanic in the car. . It is a different story that when I left from the service centre, within couple of kms, the sound reoccured.

I am proud of Maruti and Swift.

I can expect a 60:40 ratio sales of dieseletrol.

A great figure achieved and commendable thing is that this was with so much of waiting period and NO discount.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

Hi Bhpians!

My friend need a petrol hatch as his 2nd family car & is confused between Swift, Brio & Grand-i10. Thanks to the competition. I had a short TD of both petrol & diesel variants of Swift. Also had a TD of Brio on a smooth tarmac. I have not Tdied the Grand yet. Need your advice before finalizing. He will go for the top end only & he is not bothered about the initial cost & features. He is also not worried about interior quality & luggage space.

He will use the car mostly in city & once in a moth for long drives. His requirements in order preferences are:

1) Good ride quality (he means comfort oriented suspension set up so that ride will be least bone jarring)
2) City driveability
3) Engine power & strong pick up
4) Refinement & least cabin noise.
5) easy ingress & egress
6) ease of maintenance ( not cost of maintenance )
7) FE
8) High speed control & manners

Though I have no experience of grand i-10, from official review reports & my driving experience of i-10 kappa, my ratings are as below. Please correct me if I am wrong which will make my & my friend's job easier.

1. Grand > Brio > Swift ( I test drove the petrol swift on undulated roads & felt the bumpiness )
2. Brio > Swift = Grand
3. Brio > Grand > Swift ( power of petrol Swift died down after 100 kmph, not so in Brio)
4. Swift > Grand > Brio ( Swift felt really refined to me during my TD )
5. Brio > Grand = Swift
6. Swift > Grand > Brio ( no brainer )
7. Brio > Swift > Grand ( since petrol Hyundai are not famous for FE )
8. Brio > Swift > Grand

If the above analysis is correct, then he may go for Brio. Urgent inputs needed please.

Thanks

When it comes to petrol, i-VTEC is a no-brainer. The AT variant is nice too.
The "cost" of maintenance will be low with Swift and Brio as compared to grand i10.
Coming to grand i10, it has stunning looks+better equipment.
If he doesn't care about cosmetics/equipment levels, Brio is one of the best cars to drive around in city/highway.
