@vid6639: OD is obviously bluffing... the car has pretty bad turbo lag.

Yeah I know but it was real funny reading 2 reviews which were completely opposite.

The turbolag is pronounced but not as much as the verna's.

Sorry for going off the topic but how do you do this then? I am planning to move to Verna CRDi from my Wagon R and this is the only way I know on slopes (lots of it in Bangalore BTW )!

Optra magnum sounds very powerful on paper. We need to wait for some days to listen to actual views from a customer.

Can anybody tell release date of Chevy Aveo with 1.3Multijet diesel? or atleast Palio with multijet?

AC is on 100% of the time and roads very bad in mangalore mostly 2nd gear, rarely 3rd in city and the highway trip was ghat section (mangalore-moodbidri-belthangady) mostly 3rd and rarely 4th gear

Guys please stop comparing petrol car with diesel, petrol cars are totally different then diesels you cant put diesel cars in higher gears soon.

For e.g in My Optra Petrol i can shift into 5th at 35kmph without any vibrations, in my Swift DDIS i only do it at around 80kmph or above.

?? I can shift into 5th at 50kmph in an indica non turbo and yet not have vibrations or judder. Diesel is all about low end torque. You can drive in a higher gear at lower rpms in case of diesel cars. Thats the reason in most reviews you will see that 40-100 in 5th gear figures are much better for diesels than petrols.

I am surprised that people are finding Magnum's gear shift smooth. It pinches me every time i shift to 1st gear. Its not smooth by any means.

I can shift to 5th gear in my Palio D and Lancer D at 50km/hr.

The car has power but not useful, in the sense high torque is useless when i am "struggling" to drive in traffic and "struggling" to get car moving on slop from standstill.

*** By struggling i mean its not as per my expectation.

OT: i never used to try 35 kph in 5th gear in petrol cars nor i do it in Swift coz its just putting unwanted strain.

50 kph and 5th gear works fine in both with a controlled modulation of gas. i feel the vibration has more to do with TALL gearing than the torque figure in case of swift D and below the turbo band actually helps alot to putter around (cant accelerate quickly though), mostly the same with Magnum also.
