Till now the display for the Average Consumption shows 7-8 Kmpl only.

Amit Bhai, Yes, hopefully this option should solve it if there is a problem of display getting hanged, may be i am wrong as there has been no reports of display getting hanged, i conveyed this to him, but also told him to take the advise from TASS SA before going for a reset.
Ask him to check the display, whether it's in km/litre or 100km/litre.
we can change the display using the menu controls for Average Consumption..

Hi Sanjeevi,

Just check if the setting is miles/lit or km/lit. I think it is set at miles /litre.

Cheers, Sam

As the display is same in the Linea also, have you experienced this issue ? if yes, then what can be a probable solution to this ?
Did he RESET the trip meters after filling in at the bunk?
Trip meters can be reset by pressing and holding the small round button on the right hand lever which cycles through various MID modes.
Dealer guys handle car roughly and that 8km/l may be showing for that drive.
Just ask you friend to RESET both Trip A and trip B and if still problem persists, he can disconnet -ve terminal of battery and whole system will reboot.

Update
It's not 100km/ltr.
It's ltrs/100kms and Km/ltr conversion only.

Once again ,
Why dont you buy a house within a striking distance from TASS. Now whats the whistling sound you are talking about?
Will ask dad to check, when i drive, its AC on full fan speed and Music sys on 16-17(it crackes after that) so never heard that type of noise.

Did you go through any water logged areas? In my Santro, whenever i started the car in the morning, it gave a whistle type from front and vanished after few secs but that was noise from some belt.
Amit, are you experiencing it daily or was a one off affair like clutch going down? Phew, your car is really a "gaadi zameen par" special.
What a keen oberver you are....

No. My car has never launched into water logging as yet. Its a soft whistle type or hissing type noise. It sounds as if it comes from outside. This time Music was ON still I could hear it. First I thought its from Music system, stopped it, then I thought its from vipers, stopped it also.

Both the times, common items were - Rains & Humidity/ fogging/ misting (probably higher cabin temp vs low outside temp). Could any of these 2 common items do something (friction in belts or some part of engine etc) which can result into this sound?

Does it come from the underbody of the car? Sometimes the hissing sound is of the fuel pump. But fuel pumps have a hissing sound, not a whistle. Fuel pump hissing sound can be compared to gas leaking from somewhere.

I could not actually check the location where its coming from. If it comes again, will have to do it. Can't explain the sound - its something like when you try to make this sound with lips - shhhhshhhhhhshhhhhhshhhh - continuous with slightly varying pich

But there is not a trace of any vibration. So I guess friction ma be rulled out.

Yes. Will have to check the location if it comes again.

ssssssssssshhhh sound

Hi Amit (VP) , does the sound like the cooker wistle ?

i used to get similar sssssshhh sounds in my palio few years ago from the front wheels. later on it was diagnosed as "ball bearings have worn out"
Wassan motor (deonar) guys replaced the same and the sound vanished.

i am not sure whether the sound in your car is related to this
may be you can check with the TASS.

StarVB

Yes. Its somewhat similar to cooker whistle but not that severe. And it has surfaced only 2-3 times. If its bearings, then won't the sound be permanent or persist more?

In my Palio's case, the (cooker whistle like) sound used to be heard during idle condition and used to vanshi once the car picks up speed
initially it was intermittent, but over 1-2 months it became very consistent. then i referred it to servcie station and they replaced the ball bearings and sound was never heard again.

in your case, i am not saying it could be ball bearing, but it is better for your refer the issue to TASS and let them diagnose what it is .
