Re: The Thar -- Buying it, Living with it, Modding it

congratulations!!
Have a look here:

and here:

I also got into two minds about splurging for this, after seeing the beach thread.
Unfortunately, received a surprisingly loud "no" from all quarters.

As for loan, you're better off with a PSU bank, though they may take some extra time in processing.

enjoy it, man!
I hope thursday is a good day for you....

re: Review: 1st-gen Mahindra Thar (2011 - 2019)

Paying such a huge amount did not expect such cheap interiors and local plastics

Decided not to crib about Mahindra, stated upgrading things. As soon as it was out of showroom got the alloys and the tyre replaced. As the stock suspensions were no good, so got the Bilstein suspensions and added the Light force for looks.

This was the First Thar which was Delivered from Palace cross showroom

My experience with Thar was not that great initially. It was gargling coolant & vomiting all over the engine bay and was spitting oil. Escalated the issue to M&M and also wrote on their Facebook page, got many calls from M&M and finally they fixed the issue saying the thermostat had gone bad

Nice looking jeep Vinay. Have you put up a detailed ownership report yet? Looking forward to it. I am a prospective Thar buyer. We have an old MM 540 with us.
I am deciding between the Thar or rebuilding MM 540.

^^ Wheel nuts used are incorrect. "Dome shaped" wheel nuts (suitable for Scorpio alloys) are to be used. If required, a Scorpio type 4WD hub cap can be used to hide the ALH.

Yes there are many but the primary one is roll stiffness distribution. Playing around with tire pressures can have an effect but its not the way to go.

The alloys are awesome. Stock alloys look so cheesy.

Then why are they on it? This vehicle just rolled out of the factory few days ago right?
I hope the same message is being sent to the plant and dealers. What can a poor customer do about this?

I have a feeling that vehicle is not for a customer but for some auto journo for long term ownership.

How do I know you ask?

Two simple reasons:
  1. The THAR sports the foot step which were there inthe initial launch vehicles that were provided to the journo's
  2. The alloys. The alloys have not been fitted at the dealer's end but factory fitted.

Spikey, isn't it right what I said above

These alloys are not factory fitted and have been done up at the dealers end. Please have a look at the OE alloy fitment on Scorpio / Xylo and you will understand.

Why Saar? All Thar CRDe's have this footstep fitted at the factory what happens later is decided by the owner.

Saar,

How can the footsteps on the Black THAR be standard. The standard ones are these

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...ml#post2285605

The one's given for Journo TD had a different foot step

Any explanation?

Cheers

Saar, I thought you were asking about the other footstep, not the one shown above, my mistake . You are right, the one shown above is a different footstep (part of the accessories). Now I know why you thought so. Nice logic anyways

re: Review: 1st-gen Mahindra Thar (2011 - 2019)

Dear Sidindica - please PM me your contact number and details of the black vehicle. It is an absolute necessity that only correct wheel nuts as per part number specified in the BOM (bill of material) are fitted when OE alloy wheels are fitted. I will instruct Delhi office to do the needful if the vehicle is in Delhi, otherwise please let me know where it is, we will arrange. Wheel caps of Scorpio 4 wheel drive application as per the BOM must also be fitted.

THIS SHALL BE DONE. PERIOD.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Sir, I'll surely PM my number. I have no knowledge of whom this vehicle belongs to, yesterday had a visit to Koncept Automobiles, Noida, UP to pick up a logan CNG brochure and pricing and there this jeep was delivered sometime in the evening. Just a random click because I had seen a black thar for the first time. No idea about who owns it. But, yes, I did hear some frustration from the salesperson who was delivering...something he said "Is gaadi ko jaldi taiyar karo, customer nakhush hai humse..itni der kyon delivery mein?

Thar doesn't come with factory fitted alloys, they were fitted as accessories at the dealer end.

The dealer address is:

Koncept Automobiles
A-9,Sector-2, Opp Indian Oil Building,
Noida 201301, U.P.

re: Review: 1st-gen Mahindra Thar (2011 - 2019)

Well,

After much waiting...no call and no Thar for test drive. Called up the dealership and they say that no Thar has arrived from Mahindra.

So much for customer service from the dealership or Mahindra!

Anyone else got a test drive done this week?
