The training on the earlier days of the trip has sunk in me well. Early starts were the norm. But since there was no driving schedule so early, I walked around the hotel in search of some interesting sights. At 06:15AM, sun has already risen and moon still saying goodbye   Tried to catch the moon before she gets shadowed by the sun   Rangrik Village  Sun by now fully up and the shadows are longer on the mountains, moon is still visible  A chorten on the mountains  I wonder how the mountains get all these colours  My own shadow! Went philosophical at that time  - Blame it on the solitude. Waiting for the sun's rays  Kee Monastery Mountain still in shadows  By 07:30AM came back to the hotel to see the team having breakfast. Joined for a great slow breakfast continued... |

HVK's Scorpio, Discovery Bolero, Baby Alto and AP Swift went for the drive while the others chose to stay back. Went to the petrol pump to tank up. I saw Mumbai Roadsters for the first time here. A short meeting - looked hifi with their swifts  This girl says she wants Rs 20. I asked her will she take 10?, She says No!!  Kaaza Gompa  Views en route Kaaza Pin Valley - Colourful Mountains    A house near Sichling  Harvesting  Baby Alto  The only way to Pin Valley - The Pin valley Bridge  It was opened on 18.08.1989  AP Swift ready to go to Pin Valley  continued... |

There is a trek through the Himalayan national park from Mudh, which takes you through the Parvati Pass, and can exit at Manikaran near Manali. The trek is of 7to 8 days. That is the place of the elusive snow leopards, one day .... For now the drive is only up to Mudh. Some pictures from Pin Valley.        Discovery Bolero's radiator cap fell of somewhere and the vehicle got over heated. We stopped near a water pump to fill the radiator. NJ filling water  We stopped there  The road ahead  continued... |

Roads became bad and rescue missions were in place for the small cars. It was also decided that there is no point in going further. Mudh was around 9Km from here. HVK who had gone forward returned by now and advised the team to turn back. The Bad roads, the rescue mission pictures. I saw a lot of tourist taxis bringing in people to Pin Valley. Probably they were stuck too like us in Kaaza and was looking around.  By 15:30hrs we could see Dhankar Gompa perched up on the mountains (toward right) and the Pin Spiti Confluence  continued... |

By 18:45 we fill up the tanks again.  By 19:30hrs we meet up for dinner together with Mumbai Roadsters. The discusssion was about their drive to Kaaza and what is the plan forward. The news about Kunzum La, Chota Dhara, Bada Dhara was not favorable. So it was decided that we spent the next day too in Kaaza. By 22:00hrs I hit the sack again with the happiness of not to wake up early the next day. |

The tea table was buzzing with talks of going back, Jeep Captain rushing to Cochin etc... HVK was on phone busily trying to get all route information. By 11:00AM Jeep Captain took a taxi to Rekong Peo, from where he could catch a bus to Delhi. While I were still trying to come to terms with what was happening, JP and TS shouts my name, and asks "SHALL WE ?" I screamed "YES" and jumped into Discovery Bolero. Today me, TS and JP alone in Discovery Bolero. The Bridge towards Rangrik, Kunzum La. For today we go straight to Kee and Kibber  Spiti River     Rangrik Town   Baby Yak?  Save Tibet - OK, Save Palestine - OK, Save Usha - Who ? Anyone?  continued... |
