Yes, I have maintained them. Need to put it in excel, and share. Intend to do after photo sharing is over.

Arindam,

Great job at the photos, way to go..... keep them coming.

Waiting for the excel logs, that would give an indication of the timings, distances etc., would be of great help to people traveling the route.

Dear Rankya1 and all - a little off topic here but I think I must share this with all of you, especially after the swift going off in a corner.

Best regards,

______________
Subject: Kasara Ghat on the Nasik Mumbai highway – the new descent road

The new road going down from Igatpuri to Kasara has been thrown open to traffic. I used it for the first time when I went to Mumbai last Friday in my black Scorpio MH15BX3184 (which is set up to handle perfectly). As usual, I drove flat out. My observations are as follows.

The road is a one way (Igatpuri to Kasara) but please be on the lookout for oncoming stragglers, especially motorcycles and construction trucks.
The road consists of a series of very long curves, left to right to left to right. The effect is cyclic, one after the other. Some of the apexes of these curves are not balanced properly. Therefore, it is recommended to descend in fourth gear, not in fifth gear and hold the car with assistance from the driveline.
Cat’s eyes demarcate the road extremities. As there is almost no runoff area after the cat’s eyes, you need to be careful not to hit the cat’s eyes.
Restrict speed to controllable limit as there are distinct chances of losing control on the apexes.

This is for information of all. For any specific information, please send me an E mail and I will reply.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

IMO, the thread name has to be modified to "GQ Run II...pics starting form page.." It will help others to see the pics instead of searching the whole travelogue.

Snaps from Day 4 - Part I

The 25 km long flyover, it was worth going back 4 km to take it rather than negotiating Kanpur city traffic

The Kanpur elevated expressway is a dream to drive (of course only once you have navigated your way into it ). Best part is that it is barricaded which makes it safe to zip along without having to worry about the errant buffalo or cheeky scooter guy poking their nose through the median

nice pics.
1]regarding pic showing as jain temple, i wonder, if it is jain temple, then there should be flag with flag post at top of temple and architecture is bit different.
2] bus stand in middle of road-- i think it is bus rapid transit busstop.
3] pic of heritage building opposite Qutab minar-- it may be tomb of Qutubuddin Eibak. Delhi guys, please clarify.

I guess that's a Mosque and not Jain Temple

@ASHISHPALLOD, @gowda79: It is neither a mosque nor a jain temple. It is a kind of sort of replica of the taj (best classified as a loose interpretation of the original) which is the home base of a particular guru/babaji. You can enter it to visit. No leather allowed.

Ingrained in my memory since I once got stuck in a horrendous jam at a yearly mela outside the temple.

I think you are correct! It comes on the Mehrauli Gurgaon Road that goes via Sultanpur, and is close the Qutub Minar. But let Delhi guys confirm.

By the way, a 25 km fly-over in Kanpur? Is that India's longest?

IIRC, read in a board in front it's a Jain temple. Regulars on NH2 can confirm. This is in between Mathura and Delhi on your left hand side, when you are travelling to Delhi.

Just to clarify, all of 25 km is not elevated. In between there are two/three stretches where it has come down to road level, but the entire stretch is barricaded, and there is no entry/exit for the entire section.

So once on this flyover you cannot take anywhere U-turn to go back on the same road.
