Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Guys,

I am pondering on which tyre set to go with on my 2014 W8 AWD. Done 58k in nearly 10 years.

Cost is a factor. I got some prices from TyreMarket.com and thinking between Yoko G055, GY Wrangler Trip;emax or the JK Ranger H/Ts. Any suggestions?

TIA

I changed to GY Wrangler H/T Silent Tracks a few months back. I see a noticeable reduction in tyre noise. Also, I am happy with the traction and braking performance, though it has mostly been on asphalt.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Its almost an year since I got Continental CC LX2 for my XUV 5OO. No doubt that tires are good but the left pulling has seriously destroyed the fun of driving.

In spite of multiple alignment checks in last one year, there was no solution to the problem. Even at low speeds the car sways to the left. I got both rear and front suspension checked and damaged bushes changed along with front shockers.

As I am planning for a long road trip next week onwards, it will be of great help if someone could guide me with the solution to this problem specially those who using the same set of tires i.e Continental CC LX2

Thanks in advance.

I know the feeling. It’s been a year, and I’ve visited Madhu’s in Bangalore at least four times, still unable to solve the left-pulling issue with my Continental tires. I no longer feel confident driving on highways because it pulls to the left so quickly.

I have been using the same tyres on my Seltos for past 47k kms. The slight left pull has been there since Day 1 although it reduced a bit after sticking to alignment done at Kia service centre(initial road force alignment was done at Tyre Empire). They also confirmed that suspension has no issues and the pull is due to the tyres.

Apart from the left pull and higher sidewall flex, the tyres have proved their worth so far.

I have been using same for the last 2yrs and done 30K + kms on them. Slight left has been there but it is also a known issue of xuv500. Even with bridgestones I never felt it was perfect but I agree that CCLX2 does increase it a bit, but alignment tends to resolve it to fair degree.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

So, I now need a new set of wheels for my XUV 500 which is currently on Goodyear wranglers. I have been recommended Goodyear Efficient Grip for 11,000 each and Apollo Apterra for 10, 900 each. Any comments of which one I should go with ? Don't want to spend more than 45,000 for the change.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Tyres on my 2019 XUV5oo are due for a change, I am currently on the first OE set, Bridgestone Dueler HT 684, current mileage is 92xxx kms.

My current usage pattern is 100kms daily, I am looking for a set which will last me for the balance lifecycle of this car, which is 4 year, thanks to NGT.

I am keen on again opting for Bridgestone Dueler, as they served me well. Quotes are in tune of 13-13.6 k. The only thing which is not working in its favor is boring looks.

I am considering AT tyres also.

Considered Goodyear but dropped the idea as major dealers have MY24 inventory.

I am being offered Geolander AT also for 12.5, but I feel that It would be an overkill for a FWD car.

What do you guys suggest?

Consider the Apollo Apterra AT2 - other 500 owners have rated this tyre very highly.

Apterra AT2 seems like a good option.

I have brought my options down to this and Geolander AT G015. Now the final call is down to pricing, Geolander is almost dearer by 1.5k/Tyre. So 6k more in total outflow, doing my math. Hopefully will get done with it today.

What would be your suggestion between these two?

I personally know of 500 owners in our group who have moved to Apollo AT2 and they are all very happy with them, these are folks with 1L+ on their odo and have driven across terrains and experienced other brands as well. This has become a default go-to tyre in our group for anyone looking to change and have a need for AT tyres.
