Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Sourced from FB, there appears that a 1938 Skoda Popular IV type 912 Roadster is under restoration. These are nice small roadsters

There is a similar car in Manjusha Museum, Dharmasthala. The car was brought to Bangalore from Pune by the now Late Papanna. The car was restored by N Sripathi Rao and was brown in colour.

When Late Papanna's collection was bought by the Manjusha Museum, the Skoda went to Dharmasthala. She is now red in colour

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Vauxhall 1948-51 both Velox & Wyvern manufactured by Vauxhall Motors , Luton, UK. both body looks same but Velox engine is six Cylinder with 2275 CC engine and Wyvern is 4 Cylinder with 1500 CC. One can identify both looking at the wheel cup, back no plate badge, and bumper posts to find the difference also Tyre seize is 14 in Wyvern and 15 in Velox. My father purchased Velox from G.M. Motors in 1950 and now I am using this car in trim condition.

Amazing find schakravarthy,

The red car, if I am not mistaken, is an AMC Gremlin (Spotted: AMC Pacer)- it used to be parked opposite my house decades ago. Was just white and had the OE wheels. Any idea if it is for sale?

It is indeed an AMC Gremlin, sir.

My friend found it parked in an apartment complex - no idea if it is for sale or not.

Congratulations on maintaining the car so well and for using it still. Being a single family owned vehicle for 67 years is one hell of an accomplishment. Family fortunes and dynamics change over such a long time and often families do not retain the economic or physical ability to hold on to these gems. Please could you post some more photos from other angles, the engine and the interiors. My family had an Opel 1936 6-cylinder purchased in 1936 by my grandfather. It stayed with the family till I think 2003 or so when my uncle who was facing tough times and poor health sold it. Sadly it did not occur to him to sell it to me or inform me. Fortunately the car landed into the garage of a honoured BHPian who restored it beautifully and Karlosdeville (who else) tracked it down for me and shared a photo.

All these cars are off Residency Road. The AMC was for sale about 6 months back. Asking price was 6 lakhs.

In 1939, Chevrolet produced the Master (JB) and Master Deluxe (JA) Models

Quote:
The 1939 Chevrolet Master Series JB had longer hoods than the prior years. The headlights now sat atop of the front fenders. The grille had horizontal bars and many aspects of the vehicle became rounder. The six-cylinder cast-iron block engine displaced 216.5 cubic-inches and produces 85 horsepower. The Master Deluxe Series JA was a slightly more expensive, more fancy version of its Sibling, the JB. It featured standard equipment that was optional on the JB. Included were bumper guards and twin taillights. The addition of an all-new body style was the four-passenger coupe.

The Dodge Brothers Six exists. Enjoy going for occasional drives with it. Driving it requies a more concentration and skill than the normal car as the Brake pedal is on the extreme right,Throttle in the middle on the floor and clutch on the left.
