Here is a Riley from South India

Quote:
Riley was a British motorcar and bicycle manufacturer from 1890. Riley became part of the Nuffield Organisation in 1938 and was merged into the British Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968. ln July 1969 British Leyland announced the immediate end of Riley production, although 1969 was a difficult year for the UK auto industry and many cars from Riley's inventory may have been first registered in 1970.

Today, the Riley trademark is owned by BMW.

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Here is a 1962 Austin Sprite Mark II, in-front of the Palace Hotel, Bangalore

Quote:
The Mark II announced at the end of May 1961[8]used the same 948 cc engine (engine code 9CG), but with larger twin 11⁄4 inch SU carburettors, increasing power to 46.5 bhp. A close-ratio gearbox was fitted. The bodywork was completely revamped, with the headlights migrating to a more conventional position in the wings, either side of a full-width grille and a conventional bonnet. At the rear, styling borrowed from the soon-to-be-announced MGB gave a similarly more modern look, with the added advantages of an opening boot lid and conventional rear bumper bar. The addition of the boot lid required the introduction of squared-off rear wheel arches to retain enough metal in the rear structure to give good rigidity. The result was a much less eccentric-looking sports car, though at the expense of some 100 lbs extra weight. In contrast to the 'frogeye', the later cars are often collectively referred to as square-bodied Sprites by enthusiasts.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

The oldest workshop in a quaint little town of Ranikhet have this. Presumably a 4 HP engine which was enough to chug it up at 2000 Meters of steep mountain roads of those days.

Thanks for sharing. Appears to be a 1919-1920 Citroen. Wheels appear wrong though. Car seems to be in good shape.

Thanks

Here is a 1964 Chevrolet Impala. This car was part of the Police Commissioners fleet at one time. Currently in very long term ownership with a BHPian in Bangalore.

As convincing it might seem, that's neither a 'Triumph' Herald nor a convertible- twas originally a Standard Herald mk1 saloon/sedan, black in colour that was sold by a dealer in Bangalore who is known for selling Heralds back to back. Went to a restorer mechanic in Jaipur who modified it thus rather than keep it original. Where did you find this car btw?

Here is a wonderfully restored 1948 Plymouth P15, exhaustively restored by TEAMCSA, Chennai. What a wonderful restoration, the car looks new!

A "Triumph" Herald has white rubber bumpers and the convertible has a shorter boot lid if I am correct

Thanks for the pictures. I believe the first car is a 1930 Dodge.

That beetle belongs to the owner of Fatima bakery. I have heard that it is a single owner car and has been with him for almost 45 years now. He owns multiple cars but I think this one is the garage queen as it is always seen parked in the main porch in front of his house on Richmond Road.

Boot lid is of the same dimensions for all Heralds.
Yes, the Triumph Herald had rubber bumpers from the 1200 onwards and for that the bumpers had a slightly different shape altogether to take in the rubber inserts.
