Best non-Indian Herald I've ever seen in India! Very original, barring of course the lack of rubber bumpers as you mentioned (fitted only to the 1200 onwards UK Heralds) & note that the Hlight dipper switch on the left is a smaller one from a later Indian Herald or a Gazel....but otherwise thius car is nothing less than concours! Incidentally it brings to me memories of what I think was a similar estate here back in the 80s when I was a small kid (so dont ask if I enquired bout that car! ), it was maroon with a white roof & laid up by a roadside garage that had existed until a few years ago....'dont recall any more details, excpet that the hubcaps were missing.....used to see it whenever my dad took me out in his Gazel & we passed by on that road.....we got transferred out of Hyd. in '87 & a couple of years later when we visited Hyd. I didnt see that car again...if it really were a Triumph estate like this one, pity bout how it ended up! Stampro, pity bout that pennant! It did look like it was restorable, although as my bawa friend Karl had once said "everything looks better in the photos!"....do you know if any parts from that car are still around, like the hubcaps (are Gazel ones actually) or atleast the steering wheel? This Gazel looks like the very last ('77) of the mk2 models going by the lack of side-trims, unless they were taken off...looks like a daily runner... Incidentally, this car reminds me of another one in the very same colour I'd seen once in Delhi back in 1997....it was moving far ahead of us in the traffic there although it had a low-rider look at the front most likely because it was fitted with Herlad front suspension (smaller forks/shocks/springs)....and yeah, it also goes on to bring me a memory of a 2-door Herald I saw as a kid, again in this colour (but with white roof) in Jodhpur, Rajasthan where we were transferred in '87....and that moment was when I got to know the name 'Herald' (my mum had told me when I wrongly pointed out that car as a Gazel).....pity I dont remember the exact date....funny how I still remember these incidents! | |

we did ask the owner for the hlight dipper switch and other things that we had doubts about and he said he gets all the stuff when he goes abroad for his business trips. the switch is original and has not been changed at all. the only thing wrong like i mentioned and so did the owner is the rubber bumpers, that he was not able to locate and get made. so the next time he goes for one of his business trips he would get it. | |

This car indeed is way much better than the other '62 you photo'd.......excpet for the front bumper, which is from a post '62 Herald as evident from the recess for the no. plate & opening at the centre (compare with the one on the first car which has the original bumper).....& I think the left door handle also is from a later model ('62 Heralds had locking handles on both doors) but cant make out in the pic... But yes, this is what the original dashboard of a '62 Herald should look like.....how I wish the one on my car was as good!! So got any details on this one??
