So folks, it was that time of the year again when the ex-Kipling Kolkata RR Silver Ghost makes it journey to the current owner's family temple to carry the temple Deity.

I had to take a few snaps and share them with you. This year, the car made 2 trips, once during Holi which is routine, and once during Janmashtami, which was a month ago (maybe I missed seeing the car at this time in previous years).

I knew that till some point in the recent past the car sported Grebel lamps and actually did find evidence of this; too bad they aren't with the car anymore.

2 photos of 1921 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Chassis 109 MG (BLA 8489) which used to belong to my great grand father, Raja P. N. Tagore (the article mentions P. A. Tagore, a typo).

The girls are my grandfather's sisters'.






The mansion at the background is Tagore Villa, an erstwhile family property, as it is today

Wow Prem, thanks! As Mr. Furr is mentioned in the article and he is the owner of the RR, he had an interesting story to tell me when I spoke to him.

He swapped a 540/500K Mercedes in his collection for RR 109 MG! I've mentioned before that the 540/500K was a gift from Hitler to arms and steel tycoon Alfried Krupp and the swap happened sometime in the early '90s. Little did he realise then that a few years down the line the Merc would be far more valuable than the RR!

109MG has been going around the show circuit as "ex-Nepal Maharaja". Wonder if it went to Nepal after Raja P.N.Tagore.

It went from Kolkata. Nothing to do with Nepal.
In the 1970's so many cars left the country illegally. And many of those involved are still around.



This is a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, sadly the front is not see. Lived somewhere between Bombay and Pune. Parsi connection, any ideas about it?

Harit, could we please see the rear bottom of the mudguard without the neon sign (profile may be slightly different in the two pics) ?
