I do vaguely remember a picture of a column shift 116 somewhere on Team BHP.
I have myself seen and photo'd a 116 450 SEL V8 with coloumn shift auto. I think it is the second car that sunilgee uploaded.

I think V-16's 116 SE is also a coloumn shift.

A rust in peace

Its criminal to abandon cars...still worse cutting them up..breaks my heart..we should start a SPCA kind of organisation to prevent cruelty like this..any takers.Apologies for posting these pics without permission.

I can see 2 other Mercs in the pic. One the right it appears to be a W123 and on the left corner another old Merc with its bonnet half open.

Re.Rust in peace

Sorry guys I have no clue of the location of the 111, was never diclosed to me.The 110 was in B'lore, now in Coimbatore.Anatomical resemblences aside !! I'm told this car was originally delivered in Africa and has period extras including them anatomical bumper riders, headlight guards, side window vents and 15"wheels should have the heavy duty suspension too.
We had one in the family many years ago , a 1963/190 petrol, bought from Mumbai. Most of these cars were imported from one of the then prosperous East African countries (former British colonies RHD),quite a few were imported to India by prosperous Gujuratis and professionally employed South Indians. The first Merc in the family a 1960 model 190Db,dark grey with red upholstery,Regn No.KLE 1510, was imported brand new from Tanganiyka (now Tanzania) one of the first pontons in Kerala, unfortunately sold in the early 80's, will post some pics of the car soon.
