When I saw this post I also remembered the 116 and 126 diesels. But somehow these were never icon or collectible cars. Only VCCCI allows one entry with an ugly face, missing the headlight surround.
Regarding W108's, there must be still 30 to 40 survivors minimum, many came to India and were owned by the top industrialists. I had 3, one was a Birla car, then a parsi movie personalities car, and then a religious head's car which I parted with.

Hi,

I was going through my collection of old Indian car Magazines , an in the Car & Bike international Magazine edition dated Febuary 1989 , there is a article on the "indrol vintage car fiesta" organized by VCCCI on 4th Dec 1989.

There is a photograph of a Merc 190SL regn number - MRD 8539 , is this car still around ?

( i am not scanning amd posting the article as i am not sure if it is allowed)

Saw a very well maintained W126, people would be wondering as i was straining to find out the version. It was a 500 some MH01 P, had a uniformed chauffer. As a habit always check out the one outside saifee hospital MAS something hope its undergoing some care and not sold off.

At the outset, must compliment the people who've been posting on this thread for their knowledge both from a technical / historical perspective as well as for the database in their heads of cars spanning the length and breadth of the country.

Slightly younger than this thread would warrant but saw a couple of references to 126s hence taking the liberty of posting... my 1983 126 coupe 380 SEC - 3.8 liter V8. This snap around 3 months old; is currently undergoing a slow and steady revamp... interiors were pretty messed up. Has AMG Penta alloys and the AMG bumper / skirts kit.

Indeed it is, it is with the Jasdanwalla collection and regularly seen at rallies. I believe it earlier had a Parsi owner. Since the Car & Bike publication is now not existant, I see no harm in putting it up, for academic purposes.

Thank you for the reply Karlos, I have almost every edition of C&BI and IAJ since they started, have started to organize them now finally.

There is also a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray besides the SL , any info on that.

The Corvette us red, MRA 5200. I think used to belong to actor Mehmood at one point. Also currently with Jasdanwalla.

These early Car & Bike and IAJ had some really nice articles written by very knowledgable people, compared to a lot of trash dolled out these days. I clearly remember a nice piece written by Barwani on the Holkar cars, must dig it up.
