Is it rust or that stupid anti rust treatment solution that everyone in the coastal based regions dabs their chrome with?

Hope it receives the kind of service it deserves. From stories that I know Auto hangar guys could not even give a proper service for a not so old 92 S600. Forget a classic like this.
Speedy details of the ordeal

Yes sir it is an original Diesel car, with the first series Ponton Diesel engine introduced in 1954. The Colour of the car is what she came out of the factory originally in which is Mercedes code DB-353 (Helblau met).

It never came for a service just tuning, so was there for half a day.

Dont know the owner, but know the person who restored it. There was a restored ponton for sale and the asking price was 6 lakhs. Now i forgot if it was a RHD or LHD and its designation.

After re-looking at the 2nd set of Ponton pic it is indeed rust proofing grease oddly much of it seems to have gone even before rains have started.

Speaking of Pontons. Here is a picture of my Ponton (courtesy Kasli) at the VCCCI judging in early April.

That shade is one in the three metallic shades (if you can call it that) introduced by mercedes on the Ponton range. My car originally came with the shade (its in my cars data card) which was a special order for the 180 range of cars. The colour code is DB-353 H (H indicates Herbert - now Standox )on the colour plate in the engine bay of the car.

In my opinion this may be classified as a predecessor of the "C' with the 220S being designated as the "E" and the 300 series as the "S" but again there is no data from Mercedes nor intent to indicate like wise.

Lovely car, but without trying to sound too finicky are not the fog lamps placed higher than they are normally?

Is that a 37/38 Buick in the background? would love to see some more pictures of that car.

Hi Alvis that is a question everybody asks me, the fog lamp stalks (fog lamps are Bosch) came factory fitted. Infact they still bear the original "Made in Allemagnie" or what ever Germany was called stamp on them. Infact I am told that these Foglamps are today so rare, that dealers in Germany are asking 500Euros a pair. Incidentally the Fog lamps are listed in the data card for my car.

Photos of the Buick you can find in the VCCCI thread.
