May not be clearly visible, but the car is dark green with an off white top. I too would have preferred a single colour though. Was the 108 offered in two tone?

@ Karl yes the W108 was offered in a two tone, We had a W108 250S in the early seventies, beige with an off white top.

That green / white 108 is definitely not Diesel but a more desireable twin carb petrol model

I was mentioning about the car shown by V-16

From the picture of the engine bay it looks like a diesel.

In the engine bay posted by V16 the twin carbs (Stromberg i guess) are clearly visible as are the Spark plugs. We can safely conclude that it is a petrol.

That W108 is a very desirable car since it is a twin carb model. I remember my dad telling me once that one of his uncle's owned a 220s which had twin 4 barrel carbs on it.

Gogi Ji- could you confirm if this car has Twin single barrel or twin four barrel carbs along with the make.

Referring to the above posts on the W108, I am amazed at what is a surprising lack of knowledge on these cars. And the 108 series are by no means rare cars.
They never came as diesels, only petrol. 'S' class diesels came much much later, I think after 2002. But a number of cars did get converted to diesel, these are not original.
These cars had fuel supplied by carbs and also injection pumps. If carbs, then original only two 2-barrel carbs of Zenith. And nothing else.
I have a 280S, and was nick named rocket, at the signal I could just take-off.
Many cars at that time had two tone colour scheme, normally body a darker colour and the roof a lighter colour. White roof with yellow, pale blue or even red was common. My dads Opel was crimson with a black top originally.
German police cars were a similar shade of green with white mudguards.
These 108's are icon cars, all parts are available in Germany, and when there is an opportunity one should add this to his collection. In their class they had no competition.

Cheers harit

I believe the S class had a diesel before the W140, Didn't the 126's have an SDL diesel model?

w116's and w126's came with a turbo 5 cylinder diesel for the US. Was okay for the US in the late '70's since the cars were all torque no speed and the 55 speed limit ruled
