India-bound Kia KY 7-seater MPV spied testing

The Kia KY could be based on the same SP2 platform as the Seltos.

Having launched the Sonet crossover, Kia now plans to introduce a mid-size MPV in the Indian market. While the new model (codenamed: KY) is expected to debut sometime in 2022, the first spy images of the MPV have already surfaced online.

A prototype believed to be of the Kia KY was recently spotted in South Korea. The car has a typical MPV profile with an elongated rear section. The LED daytime running lights look similar to those on the Kia Sonet and it appears to have L-shaped tail lights. On the inside, the KY MPV is expected to come with 7-seats in a 3-row configuration.

The Kia KY could be based on the same SP2 platform as the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta. While details of the Kia KY are scarce, the MPV could be offered with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines.

In India, the Kia KY is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova.
