Rumour: Toyota's Baleno-based hatchback coming in next fiscal

According to a media report, Toyota is planning to launch its version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the second half of FY2019-20. The car is expected to receive exterior tweaks to differentiate it from Maruti's version. 

In March 2018, Toyota and Suzuki had entered into a model sharing agreement that gave both brands access to each other's products. Under the new deal, Maruti Suzuki will be supplying Toyota with the Baleno and Vitara Brezza and in return get access to the Corolla. Toyota will manufacture models developed by Suzuki and sell them through its retail channels.

Toyota and Suzuki have agreed to collaborate on vehicle production, technological and market development. The two brands have also signed an MoU to plan and introduce electric vehicles in India around 2020.
