Tata FleetMan launches 4 New Features

Tata Fleetman has announced the launch of four new features for fleet management and vehicle monitoring. According to a press release, these features will enhance economy, safety, communication security of fleet operations and make Tata FleetMan accessible on the mobile platform. Here's a link to the original launch report. Tata FleetMan was introduced by Tata Motors in September 2012. At present, it can be provided on the whole range of Tata commercial vehicles as well as non-Tata vehicles through Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle dealer and service network.

These additional features are made remotely available on any existing vehicle equipped with Tata FleetMan through a Firmware over the Air (FOTA) upgrade. This upgrade was done without disturbing the day to day operation of the vehicles.

The four new features are:

  • Tata FleetMan Mobile Application
  • Idling Management
  • Monitoring of sudden acceleration and Harsh braking
  • 256 bit encryption of all data communication

The Tata FleetMan Mobile Application will be made available for free download on Apple and Android platforms, helping fleet owners to track their vehicles on their smartphones using Google Maps. Specific events will be conveyed through notifications and alerts.

The Idling Management feature will enable fleet owners to monitor and accordingly minimise vehicle idling. This will help in conserving fuel.

Harsh Braking and sudden Acceleration alerts are provided to monitor driver performance, thereby reducing the chances of accidents and enhancing safety.

256 bit encryption of all data communication makes fleet tracking safe from any malicious use.
