Mahindra delivers 1,00,000th unit of the XUV700

The first 50,000 units of the XUV700 were delivered within 12 months following its launch

Mahindra has announced the delivery of the 1,00,000th unit of the XUV700. It achieved this milestone in less than 20 months, becoming the fastest SUV in Mahindra's model line-up to reach this milestone.

According to the company, the first 50,000 units of the XUV700 were delivered within 12 months following its launch. The carmaker delivered the next 50,000 units in 8 months and is now focusing on expanding its production capabilities to further reduce delivery times.

The Mahindra XUV700 was launched in August 2021. The SUV is available in MX and AdrenoX series and comes with a choice of two engines: 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol producing 197 BHP and 380 Nm and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that makes 182 BHP and 420 Nm (MT) / 450 Nm (AT). Both engines come with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

XUV700 connected car features not working: How I easily fixed it myself

Neither the phone that had the Mahindra AdrenoX app nor the SUV that had the Vi eSim were working.

BHPian abirnale recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

I think I found a situation that many folks have reported earlier - Car losing connectivity / Connected car feature not working. While there could be many reasons why this happens, I think I found one such scenario and the fix too - the one that doesn’t need the visit to ASC.

On May 19th, we were at the banks of Cauvery, in the jungle with zero connectivity to any sort of network - let alone Vi. So obviously the connected car features (viz. Lock, Unlock, Remote Start / cooling) did not work while out of network. Neither the phone that runs the Adrenox app nor the Car that has Vi eSim worked.

On 20th May, the car returned to the urban jungle where connectivity is not an issue. I did not notice that the Car network connectivity wasn’t restored. I was thinking something was wrong with the mobile app - tried logging out and in to no avail. Then it dawned upon me - checked the car ICE display. The network signal icon with the car on, it always showed zero signal! When I logged into the app, none of the trips from May 19 onwards were logged in the app. This basically means, without eSim having signal and connectivity, even the car tracking is useless.

So I did a simple fix - use the spanner provided in the car’s stock toolset and disconnected the battery for about 5 mins. And then reconnected it again. And there we have the connectivity restored. All the features including lock, unlock, trip tracking etc. is working like normal.

So here is the summary - when things don’t work, try Ctrl + Alt + Del! Meaning, battery disconnect and reconnect! This car is half mechanical and half computer - some of the computer hacks should work here too!

Warning - These stunts are done under expert supervision. Do not imitate these yourself if you aren’t a stunt-man or have expert help at the site. Meaning - battery terminal, connection and disconnection require some care and knowledge. Do it only if you know how to disconnect and reconnect the battery. There will be a battery disconnect event logged in the ECU that M&M can read when they connect their laptop. So big boss is watching you, albeit remotely.

For reference, trip snapshots from Adrenox app before and after the connectivity saga:

The trip - on the way to the jungle, no network destination:

After the connectivity was lost, until I noticed the lack of connected features:

After the battery power recycle happened:

There are a lot of such small nuances that one must understand and learn as the machines get more complex and difficult beyond just pure mechanical things. These discoveries / FAQs or DOs and DONTs are what will make your ownership anxiety free - be it any car, and not just XUV-7-Oh-oh!

Stay tuned for more updates and experiences.

Full-body PPF on my new XUV700: Price, process & warranty details

It took 4 days to complete the full PPF application, with me visiting daily to see the process.

BHPian Carguy1503 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Hello everyone there,

This is the continuation of my previous post about the purchase of the XUV700 and the issues I faced with the dealer.

So after the purchase, through various and thorough research I was able to shortlist the 3 detailers in Lucknow who were well known for their PPF application, even though there are numerous applicators in Lucknow itself.

The three I shortlisted were:

  1. AlwaysDry
  2. Exotic Carcare
  3. Detailing Devil

All three had their own set of brands with Always Dry providing Llumar and Garware and Exotic had Magnuspro and lastly, DetailingDevil had their own DragonSheild.

I went ahead with AlwaysDry as they were providing Garware too and it is now a well-known brand in the PPF market it was suitable for the budget as both the others gave the quotation of Rs 1.50 lakhs + GST for the full body with 5 years of warranty. I finalized on the Garware Premium which cost me Rs 1.10 lakhs for the full body and complementary service the AlwaysDry offered me where they ceramic quoted all the glass panels and alloys of the car and most importantly how the owner and the staff behaved with their clients, it was like you are at home and they were willing to solve any query you have and you can ask even the dumbest question and they won't be having any issues answering that.

Since this was my first time getting my car PPF'ed, I went all 4 days, the time it took them to complete the car with everything, to personally check and see myself.

Attached below are some pics of the car during the entire process.

Initially, they masked off the entire car and got it ready for the paint correction. Though it was very much new so there wasn't much of the paint to be corrected apart from some minor swirl marks that had come.

They did an absolutely fantastic job at this and now can't wait to travel with it.

Thanks, everyone. That's all for now.

Mahindra XUV700 fire caused by aftermarket parts

Mahindra found evidence of the user having fitted aftermarket parts by tampering with the original wiring circuit of the vehicle.

Videos of a Mahindra XUV700 on fire had gone viral on social media recently. Mahindra took note of the incident and launched an investigation. The company's findings have now been published in an official statement.

According to the owner of the vehicle, the XUV700 was purchased 6 months ago and was completely stock. However, Mahindra's investigation found that the owner had fitted aftermarket illuminated scuff plates and ambient lighting. The additional wiring used for these parts is said to have caused a short circuit resulting in the fire.

Mahindra's official statement regarding the matter:

Our investigation of the XUV700 thermal incident on the Jaipur National Highway concluded last evening.

Investigators have recorded evidence of the user having fitted after-market illuminated scuff plates and four ambient lighting modules by tampering with the original wiring circuit of the vehicle. The additional wiring connections which are not originally engineered have been connected to existing electrical points causing the thermal incident. The owner has been informed of our findings via email.

At Mahindra, we design and manufacture our products with the highest standards of safety. We urge users not modify the original wiring circuits of vehicles as it may compromise safety over a period. We would like to assure our customers that their safety remains our utmost priority.

Bronze Mahindra XUV700 test mule spotted; is it an electric version?

The electric version of the XUV700 is expected to be based on the INGLO platform.

A test mule of what is believed to be the Mahindra XUV700-based electric SUV has been spotted. As you can see, the EV has a bronze chrome finish.

Unfortunately, there is only one image that reveals the electric SUV in the side profile. The bodyshell is the same as the ICE-powered XUV700, however, we can expect a few cosmetic changes such as a blanked-out front grille and different trim. That being said, the exterior colour is similar to the accent colour seen on the first XUV.e8 prototype that was unveiled in the UK last year.

Inside, the electric version could get a triple-screen setup housed within a slim, horizontal display.

Technical details of the XUV700 electric SUV are still scarce. However, we can expect it to be based on Mahindra's INGLO modular electric platform. It supports 60-80 kWh battery packs and is compatible with single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive configurations.

My XUV700 MX infotainment gets Android Auto update: Initial impressions

Calling/texting using Google Assistant has become so seamless now.

BHPian StarVector recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

So after exactly 11 months of bringing home our MX D, M&M has updated the infotainment setup to provide wired Android Auto. It's really disappointing that M&M took so long. MX users can now get in touch with their nearest service centre to get the update. There is some confusion regarding the process; at some places, the update is being done after replacing the Silver Box (with higher RAM?) but my service centre (Sahyadri Motors, Wakad) told me that the internal circular mentions that replacement is not required.

The update process was really quick and takes about 30 mins to complete. Got the car back in a couple of hours.

Initial Impressions:

AA takes a few seconds to load once the phone is connected. The screen response is ok, hopefully it will get better. MID shows the Navigation option but as of now it doesn't work, it'll be great if fellow members are able to guide you to get the Navigation on MID. The sound quality while connected has improved. Calling/texting using Google Assistant has become so seamless now.

One more observation I had is that even if I try to disable Bluetooth on my phone while AA is connected, it still gets switched on. Wonder why is this so.

Sharing a few pics of the updated UI.

Odo Reading: 17,022 km

Cheers!

19 key observations on my XUV700 AWD after a 6,000 km trip in 6 days

The SUV returned a fuel efficiency of around 15 km/l for the whole trip.

BHPian rambharat recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Hi all.

Been some time since I posted. Was busy exploring our great country. Took the car for a 6000 km drive as soon as I got the 10k service done. Covered this in 6 days. Below are some of my observations:

  1. Started from Bangalore-Hyderabad-Nagpur-Seoni-Jhansi-Gwalior-Mathura
  2. Return Journey, Mathura-Jabalpur-Raipur-Vizag-Vijayawada-Tirupati-Bangalore
  3. The infotainment screen froze for some time during the hyd phase and came back on its own after multiple restarts (on its own).
  4. Apart from the above issue, there were no issues whatsoever with the car during the entire trip.
  5. The car drives like a hungry tiger, ready to gobble miles and miles. On some days it drove 1300 km non-stop without breaking a sweat.
  6. Never did the car overheat. Even though the outside temperature was 43 degrees.
  7. AC worked like a charm. There were times when I had to decrease it as it was chilling inside.
  8. Average was around 15 for the whole trip.
  9. Nitrogen in the tires is a must. I filled it once and it help up during the entire trip. The tire performance was excellent. Help the road for the entire trip and I never felt uneasy.
  10. Roads were a mix of cities, highways and hills. Apart from a brief period of bad roads in Orissa, the roads were good throughout.
  11. You can do insane speeds on this highway (NH44) as it is almost free of traffic. but maintain a decent 100 and you will get a good average (it is best at 80).
  12. ADAS, Cruise control work like a charm. The braking is excellent. Never lacked the bite.
  13. Will post the travelogue in another post, but anyone interested can DM me.
  14. Seating comfort is awesome. The car cushioned me and I never felt any unease during the entire journey.
  15. Lights are good, but during the twilight hours, I had to switch to a high beam to see the road.
  16. Steering is excellent and gives good feedback.
  17. Other features work as expected but you will appreciate the above features more (they are the main ones in a car).
  18. Side-Steps- I would recommend going for company-fitted ones. Mine were aftermarket and it scrapped side step holder (it is U-shaped) sometimes on uneven roads. It has lowered the ground clearance of my car.
  19. End of the journey, I was as fresh as day 1 ( no fatigue) at all. That's how good this car is.

I have an AX7L AWD (White)

My XUV700's sunroof cracked open just 18 days after purchase

Shocked that a brand new car from Mahindra with 5-star safety ratings had its sunroof cracked, without any reason.

BHPian manja_92 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Hello BHPians,

I bought home my very first car XUV 700 on 23rd March (just 18 days ago). The joy filled my family and friends alike until the 7th of April Saturday. The sunroof of my car neatly parked in an enclosed basement had cracked all of a sudden (please refer to attached images)! The vertical cuts and cracked open from the inside show that there was no external impact at all. However, the service head of the India garage service centre concluded that it was due to an external impact, just by hardly looking at the sunroof for 2 mins and pointing to a dot which he presumes is the impacted place. But, I can show 10s of such minute marks on the shattered glass.

This was an absolute shocker for all of us because a brand new car from Mahindra with 5-star safety ratings had its sunroof cracked suddenly without any reason! The service head told me that he would send a mail to the Mahindra plant and wait for the response (Since it was a Saturday, he told that the response would only come on Monday or Tuesday). However, he refused to keep us in the loop or provide us with a copy of the rejection mail that he claims to have received on 11th April. This lack of transparency is concerning, and I am disappointed with the way this matter has been handled so far.

I understand that accidents can happen, and we are willing to get the sunroof fixed through insurance. However, I strongly believe that this is a manufacturing defect, and should not be held responsible for the cost of repair. Investing lakhs together only to find the sunroof getting cracked open all of a sudden is an ordeal no enthusiast should be facing.

I request suggestions and advice on how to proceed in this regard.

Update: I am attaching other pictures here. The supposed impact pic is with the pen pointed towards it. Thanks.

Here's what GTO had to say on the matter:

Thermal stress or manufacturing defect - a BHPian's BMW X5 had almost identical damage.

Don't lose sleep over it. You've bought a 30-lakh car, so enjoy it. Don't let an incident like this cause you any more anguish. Push the dealer for replacement or claim insurance and be done with it. Go for a long drive this coming weekend.

Here's what BHPian nirmaljusdoit had to say on the matter:

Inexplicable situation, the sunroof is made of toughened glass and it's not too easy to get a crack or shatter unless there is a proper visible impact, moreover definitely not a dot!

Here's what BHPian Newtown had to say on the matter:

Be calm. This is fairly common even in new cars. Happened to a brand-new Honda City we had as well. The rear glass just shattered for no good reason.

I would wager that this has nothing to do with the quality of the glass manufactured. This seems like a muck-up at the time of fitting on the assembly line.

Please have it changed and enjoy the wonderful vehicle you have bought.
