anadpadhye - I am not talking about capacity constraints with respect to Optra's, read my post, it quotes Crazy Riders about the spark, they have capacity constraints wrt spark.

Also Optra Magnum Diesel LT has quite alot waiting since GM thought most selling model will be the LS but the LT is the one in demand and hence the capacity problem

Remember reading somewhere it was something like 2500-3000 (Not sure which of these) cars per month. Thats why i am surprised seeing a lower figure than that.

Yeah but the month next to the debut month it was selling less than NHC.... whats the breakup for Honda this time around?

If Elantra sold 2 units in Aug 2007, then it is a grand total of only 7 less sold than in July 2007 when it sold 9, and a great comedown from a high of 264 in May 2006.

SIAM's official fiigures shall be available around 10th and shall post those figures when available.

Spark production capacity is around 2000 units per month. This is official news I read when they launched it. By year end they should be able to produce 4000 spark I guess with expansion.

Regards,

Ravi.

ACI reports SX4 sales at 28xx units for August. NHC seems to have nosed ahead . No wonder, Honda is fancying their chances for the ABS and Airbags equipped NHC at current+60K prices!

Thanks for sharing that excel sheet from your link. Just some quick observations:
  • 51 S-Class sold in August!! Man, Indians are eating that car for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Fiats downward spiral continues, Tata tieup notwithstanding. The Palios future is sealed.
  • 3 series outselling the C since month of launch! Fantastic.
  • Honda Civic sales down 40% compared to last August. I dont think it has anything to do with newer entrants to the segment....since there arent any! Except for the Magnum.
  • At 1500+ units, the Tavera is making its presence felt...Its a darn competent utility vehicle.
  • The Grand Vitara doesnt seem to have met customers expectations, atleast those spending 14 lakh rupees. It looks much smaller in person that you would believe, and the all-too-important interiors suck!
  • Logan sales coming down to realistic levels. In the long-term, I dont think it is going to be the hot seller that our car magazines have predicted it to be. Over-priced and zero appeal.
