Any specific reason for splitting turbo from this SZ?
Which fuel pump you are using and how it has been tuned according to non-turbo SZ 2.6?

I am looking for a 20+kg torque & 85+bhp power with a NA engine in My jeep. need to test is on road / off road and then a dyno test if its not satisfying my needs then will do TC with intercooler.

I think SZ2.6 came only as a TC engine so no details are available to tune as per a non - turbo SZ2600.

This is the FP I am using. Is there any alternative FP available for SZ2600 ?.

Sreejesh Ji,
Other than so called modification of Thars, this is the only thread nowadays which always prompt me to visit this section. You have come so far with this Jeep. Kudos to you.
I might replicate this engine and GB combo in my CJ-5 in a years time. Looking forward for completion of your project.

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Shubhendra Ji ,

BA10 with SZ2600 Chain drive is a direct fit So I think just a Good running condition SZ2600 will be a good idea (Latter you can convert BA10 to NGT530 ).

After two weeks of search for the FP Sprocket Finally found the real bug Thanks to Pratheesh & Sibi Paul. Sibiettan opened his engine and counted all the sprockets teeth & timing chain slots for me.

The dealer gave us two timing chain 49 & 51 and a Wrong timing chain idler wheel both the timing chain was not fit properly, I checked the part numbers from Focus Motors Calicut & found BS1 & BS2 uses different part number for FP Sprocket So I thought Its the Fp Sprocket (If I say the complete story Behram sir will drive 521 over Me ) . After one full day search at JC Road & SivajiNagar Scrap Market I found the real problem & got the proper set of timing chain idler wheel.

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Started the engine , Not in the first crank but after a lot of crank , Problem was a blocked old fuel pipe from Can to Filter assy.

Now two more days for the test run & I am sure I can participate BAOTR .

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Mechanic's father Came to Workshop for final inspection, Fine tuning .

MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse-dsc00036.jpg

Everything is cross checked ready to First test Drive 1.30 PM (Yesterday)

MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse-dsc00041.jpg

Mechanic took a 10km Test drive, found Just one Nozzle overflow pipe got a leak But fixed.

MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse-dsc00045.jpg

I drive back to home around 2.40 PM ,reached home at 4.45 PM (75kms) stopped two times between Jest to ensure nothing is wrong. Both Me & Jeep took a bath , Did a Arathi Pooja Started the Challenging Night Drive at 6.20 PM . I managed to pass the Mutthanga Check post by around 8.55 MP (9 PM it) , ( PM it closes) Then kept the speed around 60-70 Whole the way to Bangalore and Finally reached Bangalore By 2.30 AM. In between that 2-3 stopes Just to Check the leaks on any other problems.

I was confident enough to drive My jeep after seeing, checking the perfection, care & Detailing of Mechanical Job. It was really a trilling , Challenging experience , Test driving a Modified Jeep That too in Midnight Alone . Only problem I found is the 5.38 Ratio Which kills the on road performance. tomorrow will test the Offroad performance (BAOTR).

MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse-me.jpg BAOTR 2013

Vijeyetta , You know how I left last year's event. I was totally disappointed with the performance for NGCS . Some time I thought I did a wrong decision, then it took 1 year to solve the issues one by one and I am Happy .

But without the help of my friends it won't be a success. All the credit goes to My mechanic for his excellent execution of experience & perfection.

Thanks to Sandeep,Rohan ji (Rohan George), Bijuettan for the help on different engine characters.

Vijeyettan, Rajith, Jeevan whom I called almost all the day for help on parts , technical suggestions , Vijayettan is the Man who give me the courage to weld and mental support on the complications I went through. Rajith really enjoyed the day with a Cool drink when I started My engine . I gave him enough head aches .

Thank you Santhosh for starting the project , Sudarshan Bhai for the technical help and explanation of different characters of engine & vehicles & metals. Thank you Pramod Gopinath for the support.

Finally Pratheesh Who is the reason behind the purchase of NGCS to this moment. I disturbed him almost all the day, but he is kind enough to call me from Germany and giving help to identify different parts.

Thanks to my friends for the kind words and support .

I am totally Satisfied with the performance of My Jeep. Keeping the Diff ratio same 5.38 because in Trail4 BAOTR I really experienced the crawl of Jeep thing.

A fitting reply to the naysayers !

Koya, it makes me so much happy after reading your report. You must have made lots of heads turn, eh? Although there are certain things which you did on your Jeep, which I would never even think of doing on mine, still, yours is one Jeep, pretty close to what I have in my mind. Through you, I have partially lived my dream.

Do you now want to turbocharge your war horse? I am posting this while testing a V8 monster in the engine test bed. May be, if you are interested, I could send you the turbo- once the engine has done its duties.

Spike

PS: As discussed, please do the post OTR rituals. Prost !

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

hi sreejesh,
was part of your convoy and must say your vehicle is very capable indeed. It managed to pull through everything without much strain. The engine noise did not sound much coarse either. Please give a feedback on how much low end torque was available and how long your rev was available. Since you were running 5.38 did you have to change gears during the long inclines to gain momentum? It will be great if you can share your views on the torque spread of that engine.

Regards,
Barani

Hi Barani,

Thank you, I too was watching the Monster's performance .
You are right I was managed to drive it without strain. There is lot of torque available in almost all rpms, on track 1 that climb, I just give pedal & it started digging , then I moved to 1stL then simply it climbed up, actually I didn't changed gears between those two long climbs, I was able to manage the whole climb slowly & by controlling the accelerator. on the top of track 2 long climb I almost thought to change the gear as Engine almost going to stop but surprisingly it picked up slowly but without stopping the engine. You can see it in the above video I posted. There is enough torque available in bottom & middle So I was able to climb without taking more momentum. As its a NA engine for now the power delivery is linear (Accidentally )

5.38 gives more control on rocks, steep incline than I expected. So now keeping the same 5.38 , I think 2nd& now 3rd I can use in slush. Need to do a dyno test before thinking about Turbocharging.

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Sreejesh turbo will make the tyres dig more, this is a high torque at low end motor which revs fast .Generally di etc have lot of torque at low res but they rev slowly, scorpio motor revs fast like a idi and ends up digging.
