Sir, This is my first post as a BHPian,
I am not going for the 57" OKBJ and FFRA. It is the standard 550 front and rear Axles.

This led me to the conclusion that it was not good Off roads. Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will soon be starting a New thread on building up my off roader.

Geje,
Please don't call Me "Sir". There will not be much problem in off road with 57" OKBJ & 53" FFRA because I think It can articulate More on a C-section Chassis. But with 31" tyre you may need to cut your fender or suspension lift / Body lift to accommodate those tires which will leads to Bad handling on road.

- Sreejesh.

Saturday I got the jeep from Workshop with the service charge 6k.
Work Done -
Gasket Change
GB Overhauling
Steering work.

Could have got it registered in January last, had you not taken it for the BAOTR. No worry, we'll get it regd at the earliest.
Btw, that's not my workshop, had my cousin seen this post, all the restorations will come to a stand still.

If I couldn't take it to BAOTR, I can wait until next Monsoon. BTW thank you for allowing me to take the Jeep with that "For Reg.Temp /" Yellow sticker .

The Jeep is Registered. That would be My FIRST NGCS 550 and the Only NGCS 550 to get Coimbatore Registration. The Registartion is at Coimbatore Central
And the No would be
TN 66 H 88xx / 89xx
There were around 150 vehicles at the RTA office, a majority of them were two wheelers. This was the 3rd vehicle after 2 Mini trucks to get Registered.
Total time Taken For Registration 15 days including the Preliminary Inspection before BAOTR
All the Best Sreejesh

Sreejesh,
Congratulations on getting it registered.
Will you let me take a test drive on your Vehicle, before you take it to Kerala ? I Checked the Jeep at Prabhu Anna's Workshop. Couldn't Meet him though. It has come out really good. Can you Please Share the total Cost of Restoration and Registration.
I planning to request Prabhu Anna to handle my rebuild.
Regards

Hi Geje,

I will be coming tomorrow (Sunday) to take the jeep back to Kerala so give me a call tomorrow for test Drive.Planning to reach there before 12 PM cos I need to buy an Oil pressure meter and D-Shackle. I need to calculate the total Cost I spend up to now. But it should be between 4.5-4.75L including registration and tyre.I think That Workshop is good enough for the Axle swap and 4WD Conversion.

Just a temporary measure to drive it back to Gods Own Country.

May be you should affix an IND no plate as per rules.
Got to drive the Jeep for a while.

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Took the delivery of Jeep from Prabhu after the paper works. I started around 8.45 PM from Coimbathur and reached Home at 12 O'Clock . Thanks to the Superb Handling of the NGCS Chassis ,taking turns at a speed of 70-80 is no more a problem (in case of a Jeep).

Sreejesh,

The Jeep looks nice.

In the above picture - the visuals of "Kani Konna Poovu" brought back a wiff of nostalgia and a reminder that "Vishu" is round the corner

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

One big question: How did you use the ramp at the local service station for the 'articulation' test, without making the guys there think you are crazy!

- Sreejesh, as I mentioned, please do a test again with:

1) No stabilizer bar.
2) No stabilizer bar + No shocks
3) No stabilizer bar + No shocks + fewer leafsprings

After this, you might get some good pointers from experts here.

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Hey, when did you finish the front bumper work? more pics plz.

Without shocks arti improves a lot but changes a ton of other thing. Stabilizer bar can be removed and wont make a diff! At least it didnt in my AG.

How many leafs was in a stock NGCS 500? 6 front, 5 back?
