Dear Rajith - so now there are other peoples' tinkers who get mad and run away! I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE! .

By the way, that instrument panel looks really cool! I had made one for my Thar -----. .

Thank you Sir. Problem with the Normal tinkers is Its difficult to explain them What exactly need to be fabricated. For them anything <1" in measurement is ok Because its a Jeep and thats the Jeep Thing for them .

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Dear Sreejeshmp - you have done everything nicely, then completely ruined it by this front bumper. For God's sake, get hold of the original Jeep bumper from somewhere, cut the bottom flange at the long member location and weld it to the frame. Nothing else will look authentic. By the way, the horns are supposed to be in the engine compartment, this place is wrong. I know that army vehicles had them there but it looks so shabby! PLEASE CORRECT!

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Dear Sreejesh,

Came out fine.

For seats try to use Thar Crde ones, there are many guys selling the same. use small length one (RHS type) on both the sides for rear , so driver & co driver can recline to the maximum.

Isn't that wheel-tyre combination too narrow for slush and mud-plugging?

Rajith,

You know all the difficulties I faced to make it a Good Jeep. Right now I am using all OE seats both front and rear and later changing to Innova seats on front & custom front facing seats on rear.

Sreejesh Ji,
The Christmas display on Classic has two light for 4WD. Light you marked is for 4WD-low and light next to it (yellow one) is for 4WD-Hi. With some 'Jugaad' you can use reverse gear switch of sumo to make this working.
And yes, Mr DB can divulge more information regarding part no, drawing no year, month and date design.

Regards,
Shubhendra

Bolero, bought one green color vehicle when it came out. I think peugo engined one.
Have fond memories .Peppy engine, powerful a/c.
Somewhere near kolar, broken road, a friend sitting at the back puked 20 times in a span of 100kms ,Finally he puked blood, driver too got scared ,
The ride is horrible.

Had a short stint with a NGCS 550.

Rock climbing. CJ5S CJ3B/3A nonngcs 550s went up easily.
NGCS wont go , too stiff, 3 drivers tried , finaly took it gypsy style , pedal to the metal in 2nd low .
Thar here broke the front shaft with the rear leafs twisted .
Ngcs feels like a truck to drive .
Cj3b will run rings around this lorry .
Sandeep,

Now I understand the Capability of a Stock NGCS + 12ply tyre

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Sreejesh: It is most likely an issue with your tires and not with NGCS. Either way, I will be glad to take the NGCS of your hands, if you plan to get a regular MM550 ;-).

After last Bangalore OTR, one of the NGCS jeeps build by Allan of Sarah Xtreme was at Viveks workshop. I happened to see it on a ramp and articulation was quite good. I will see if I can dig up the pictures of it.

Tini, I just happend to drive your build at BAOTR. I dont know what the current owner did to it, but, damn... brute force, can sometimes get you places..

Add to it, the refinement and comfort the Jeep offers!

Agreed, NGCS in its stock form has its limitations big time (See some videos of Thar Di). But, "this" is not due to that.. I hope we all know that.

Please put a put a picture of your Jeep on that rock, where it clearly depicts the capabilities of an NGCS.

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Hi Tini,

I already started heating My head and disturbing Pratheesh & Sudarshan . That tyre bounced on the rock and moved the jeep out of track But I tested it with stock set up.

As you mentioned I will be starting with Suspension Articulation. Now I understand the main problems but I am sure We can find a proper way to make it a good offroader. One thing I really liked in the Jeep is It jumps & lands so comfortably Not giving any shock to the driver and gives confidence to push hard.

MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse-dsc_0085.jpg

Now The real rebuild Starts, But so early than I expected.
All I need is a 20kg torque and Suspension articulation , am I right Dhanush ?

I feel 20kg torque is not enough, looking long run, future terrains and other competing machines ?.
