Its rainin gypsies in auctions in mah. (6th april - air india, old airport,Mumbai)

Hi Folks
Here is a fresh post about some gypsies for auction in mumbai. Check this out Auction Catalog Report .
There r about 8-10 civilian vehicles (seemingly old) and most importantly as single lots under the hammer. There is also an old contessa there [for ppl who may b interested in mating the contessa diesel engine to their gypsies and retaining the 4x4 and getting a high powered vehicle] .

Its at old airport , the posting mentions in Mumbai [OUSIDE SCRAPYARD AT OLD AIRPORT,KALINA,SANTACRUZ EAST]

Could Kaushik (KSM-Vtec) or Harshal (pole_position)or Spiff or some of our other mumbai guys check these lots out and report back? The inspection is from 23rd march to 3rd april.

I may be interested in the contessa to be bought as scrap and then take the engine out subsequently for my gypsy in the future.... [I am already planning mods... ]

This is again for everybody's info.
rsvp.

regards,
Abheek

It was great experience for us.
I accompanied them for 1 day
Most important part was the Scrap dealer

As I have already written before, this deal would not have been possible without Tarkesh's help.

Initially I was not very keen but as Abheek said that we will go for bid of the 3Gypsy lot, I said I will buy the third one.

Its great that you came ahead to complete the team. Without you , we would have gone for the older models. Your participation ensured that we went aggressively for the 99 models.

Now we have won the bid , its great feeling.

That is to say the least. I am actually on Cloud 9.

regards,
Abheek

Yeah, it sure looks like its raining. I just now tried contacting them but they are sort of playing football with me, as I tried 3 different numbers nobody answered after I talked on the mentioned one. What I will do is that I will go and check the vehicles in an hour or 2. If not allowed today I will surely go tomorrow to check Gypsies and Contessa.

Thanks Abheek

Hi Everyone,

I have been going through the threads on 4x4 section and somehow I am amazed with the different kinds of restorations taking place all over India, be it Jeeps or even Gypsy's. Just a few questions from my side.

1. Are Jeeps and Gypsy's easily available in and around Delhi?
2. Once purchased from dealers of such vehicles can they get registered easily?
3. Any good workshops in Delhi/NCR?

Help from all would be great as I might just go in for a Jeep myself.

Regards.

You don't fancy a Punjab (Zira) plate ?

Can't remember who it was who restored a 550 (we have so many on t-bhp now) but he had to get a PB47 number as he could not get anything in his area/state.

If you fancy Zira plate then there are plenty of dalal who can get you these for between 10K and 14K. They might do you discount if you get a couple done at the same time. Ask the scrap guy who helped you procure the vehicles if he has any knowledge in this area. From experience these scrap/disposal dealers usually know someone who can arrange RC etc.
