And I just wish that Shell Diesel was also just that close in pricing to the Oil Co's pricing !

Choudhury Saab, with IOC pumps, if you find something fishy, you need not hassle with the pump staff. Just log a complaint at their online portal and trust me, it works. When I was in Delhi, the pump manager came to my house for a "friendly talk". Later IOC did a surprise check at their pump. My complaint was regarding fuel adulteration. The folks in their head office are serious about such things and want to play fair. All such antiques happen at the pump.

I was a victim of this pump, not once but twice. The first time, I went there alone, asked them to fill up fuel, full tank. Around 25 or 26 litres, this attender comes and tries putting a sticker (Petrol one) on my 3 week old car. I refused, and he started arguing, that "Alto ( he called my Swift an Alto) mein petrol diesel aata hai, hum aur aap confuse ho jayenge"
I kept telling him NO, and then suddenly tank was full. To my shock, it was 45 litres. The needle was at about quater tank, so it was no way possible. However, since it was a new car, I was not sure about the tank capacity and thought it could be as there is no air gap or whatever. I filled nitrogen air for free, and that attendant asks for a tip. I usually tip, but after paying such a hefty amount for fuel, I was literally out of cash. It really pissed me off, as they ain't suppose to ask for a tip.

The next time, about 2 weeks later, my dad took the car, and they played the same trick. He agreed for the sticker, however he had asked them to fill for 2000 bucks only.
Both the times, they were able to play with the machine and its readings in less than 3 seconds. This raises serious questions about the credability about the Fuel they give ( You never know about the quality at all)

I think at Team-bhp we should make enough noise to make sure all Bhp'ians boycott this pump, and any media connections should be used as well to make sure this does not go unnoticed. This incident took place with me in september 2012. So you can imagine the kind of guts and management these people have to carry on their activities for SO long.

If there is any initiative against them, I promise to be a part of it. If any Media person is reading this, I sincerely request you to not let this go unnoticed, as this is just not acceptable by a bunk situated in one of the most prime locations of the city (not that bunks located at other places get the sympathy marks to do it).

When did you ever hear a minister say that? It's always "I was misquoted"!!

Sorry for the . By the way Shell has stopped selling diesel altogether in Pune, pretty much. Not sure about other locations.

Re: Trusted Petrol Pumps in Bangalore

I am having some doubts about the Shell petrol bunk in Basvanagar. Since last 2 times they have been successful in diverting my attention for a few seconds and everytime, I looked back, the filling was done. Last time I could not check the mileage of my bike as I gave it for servicing before it came to reserve. Let me see how much mileage I get this time. Since last 10 years I've been getting42-43 kmpl. Will report if this time its any different.

Regards,

I would still implore you to file a complaint. No need to feel guilty about it. They were guilty and tried to cover it up with free fuel. Not happening!!

Agree. The Bowring guys don't play any tricks and I am a regular there. Another good pump is Nagpal's BP on Residency road and the BP Coco before Fathima bakery near Shoolay Circle.

And alertness does help to let these cheats know its not easy to outsmart us. We must always, always stand near the dispensing machine while filling fuel!!

Re: Trusted Petrol Pumps in Bangalore

Tanked up my Beatie at Shell Siddapura (enroute Whitefield). Petrol ofcourse !!
Absolute satisfaction. Best part was the automatic print receipt. As soon as the fuel auto-cut off, the printed bill comes out of the machine automatically. So no chances of stopping midway, resetting, etc etc tricks.
I wonder how many of the CoCo or whatever pumps have this auto print option enabled ? Either you have to ask for a bill, which they press a button on the machine to print, or they put the amount on a slip and give you. These pumps don't bother to even write the litres filled on the slip.

Re: Trusted Petrol Pumps in Bangalore

Fell for the "Oh you said Rs XXX, i thought u said Rs xxx" trick at the HP (or is it BP?) pump next to Brand factory at Marathahalli. Normally if I fuel up in the Marathahalli area, I do so at the pump further down towards HAL. This time thought will try this one for refueling my bike. Went there, told Rs 500. He started put the nozzle in, kind of blocked my view of the meter and started filling. Only then I realized it was not that automated type where they fill in the amount up front. He suddenly stopped and I realized he had stopped at Rs 100. Told I meant 500 and he said ' Oh Sorry' and filled for Rs 400 again. I felt I had been cheated but the fuel indicator seemed to indicate it was as expected (I have a Pulsar NS and normally when I fill for 500 from reserve, all indicator bars light up). I moved ahead but was not convinced. kept the bike steady and checked again and sure enough, 2 bars had disappeared. Since at that point it would be difficult to prove anything, I moved off promising that I would not use that pump again.

So folks using that pump. Keep your eyes wide open

Surprising- since i have been frequenting this pump for almost 8 years now, and never faced a single situation as mentioned by you. I always make it a point to get down from the car and stand next to the attendant/meter.

Looks like familiar faces / repeat customers don't get the raw deal

Re: Trusted Petrol Pumps in Bangalore

The shell petrol pump on the thubarahalli to whitefield road, is pretty decent. I have been getting my scooter filled up there for almost 3 months now and also got the engine oil changed once and have always found the staff to be doing their job, just the way it is supposed to be done. How I wish the difference in Diesel cost at Shell and other outlets was back to the 2009 times.

Its HP, Divya petrol bunk. They had tried that trick on me once while I had taken my bike to fill up. I was lucky that time and since then keep an eye out. Infact the IOC bunk further down the road towards HAL also tried the same trick once. I guess you had mentioned you fill up there usually so do keep an eye for the same.

Yes, I too agree. When I used to fill my car from there they never tried that trick. It was just with the bike. However after the bike incident I was not sure how much to trust them and may be due to that felt the fuel quantity was bit less. I used to stay near Murgeshpalaya Total those days. Shifted to the BP opposite Manipal and BP opposite Jeevan Bhima Nagar police station.
Now that I shifted to Kundanahalli (On outer ring road) its Tubarahalli Shell.

Not exactly 6th block, but you can go to Indian oil pump opposite the passport office. Its company owned, but still just be aware of what's going on.
