Wildon, According to your post on the first page, it says VIN no should be 20 characters for Swift. Last 2 characters represents month & year. But I have only 17 characters, thats why asked your help !! |

For getting the Month and Year code of Maruti car you have to Look Under the Bonnet near to the hinges there will be additional Letter/Number . if you found that for e.g GA then its July 2010 Manufactured Vehicle. other month are giving below A= JAN B= FEB C= MAR D= APR E= MAY F= JUNE G= JULY H= AUG J= SEP K= OCT L= NOV M= DEC |

Found this site for VW. VIN decoder for AUDI, VOLKSWAGEN, SKODA, SEAT, MITSUBISHI, OPEL, FORD, vin code check, vin decoding Entered my VIN and generated a concise report with manufacturing date and stuff. A complete detailed report with more than 100 items, cost me 3.75 euros and I am happy with what i have. I am guessing Omega man got his report generated from here too. |

Would be grateful for your inputs on this one. The VW dealer has given me 2 VINs to choose from (one more expected soon) - WVWL101K5AA554947 and WVWL101K5AA554883. Have read through the thread and from the easy VW decoder on the first page I gather that its been manufactured in November (L meaning NOV). But using the link you suggested it throws up a different date - April. Here are the results: |

The report generated and the point you made are true. The actual production date is what you mentioned, but on your RC Book it will be mentioned as its a NOVEMBER 2010 make vehicle. If you have problem with NOVEMBER 2010 mentioning in your RC better ask for a 2011 model vehicle. if you are getting a good discount better stick to this. At present i'm away and i will not be able to generate the full report for you now. |
