Hello all, Please let me know whether the car manufactures in 2008 has 15 digit chassis number or 17 digit chassis number? Also let me know whether number of digits in chassis number change every year or they are fixed at 17 digits only? Hope to hear soon.

It should be 17 character. For ref. can you post your VIN here or as PM. Also look at the first page of this thread for the TATA VIN format.

Also i found some older TATA Vechicle do have 15 Character Chassis numbers.

And i don't have any clue about it.

^^ The TATA cars manufactured till year 2009 used this 15 character VIN/CHASSIS Number. In your case the VIN/Chassis No. contains AQZ i.e

A= January
QZ = 2009

But earlier when I was going through this thread people who purchased their TATA cars in 2009 had 17 digit number.

I have sample VIN of 2009 January, February months which having 15 Characters too. Also i have sample VIN of 17 Characters for month August onwards.

I think the change in format i.e 15 to 17 happened from April 2009.
