Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I try and gift my close friends some tech related stuff every Diwali. This time I zeroed in on dash cams. Hence I am looking to buy 7-8 dash cams. The budget would be around 3-5k per piece. I have ordered 2 pieces of Blaupunkt 2.2 already, but that can be canceled.
Since they are going to be gifted, the requirements are
1. Reliable, trusted product
2. Easy to install
3. Servieable in tier 2-3 cities
4. Does not require too much struggle with wires etc
Hence looking for suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

DDPAI Mini at around 3.5k is the best in quality, durability and to maintain your respect among your friends. Mine ddpai mini is 3.5yrs old and running good till date.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I have been reading this thread up and down for the last few weeks trying to zero in on a dual channel dashcam for my Brezza. After much deliberation, stretched my budget and placed an order for the Viofo A129 plus duo for 18.5K. Thanks to forum folks for all their feedbacks and for the 1K UPI payment discount information. I wanted a supercapacitor based model that works well with IOS and so had to look beyond DDPAI and 70mai. Also, Viofo is seen as a top budget choice internationally and so expecting good performance and durability.

Whenever you can, get a hardwiring kit as well. Set the camera to motion detection - medium sensitivity and you'll be able to access all the features Viofo offers.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi all,

I have been using the DDPai Mola N3 Pro in my Ecosport since August. I have it connected to a power adapter into the 12V charging socket. Every time I switch off the car I have to remove the adapter because the socket is an 'always ON' design. (due to keyless start, I believe)
I purchased the hardwiring kit from nexdigitron's website last week and I am looking to get it installed in my car now. I need suggestions on the following -

1. Which fuse should I get it tapped into? I looked at the fuse box diagram and couldn't find an accessory mode fuse. Anyone here who has hardwired the dashcam in their Ecosport yet? I don't want the parking monitoring function, just need it to be ON while the car is ON.

2. Recommendations for an installer in Hosur/Bengaluru who knows their stuff around this and would do a nice & clean job?

Awaiting the forum's help to get this done, thank you!

Haven't used DDPAI or have an ecosport but usually power windows fuse is an accessory one. Check that one, or if you want another then check wiper motor fuse. Both of these work in ACC mode only.

Oh yes correct, they wouldn't work unless the ACC is on. Thank you, this helps.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Was evaluating options for dashcam. Has anyone tried https://store.insta360.com/product/x3?from=nav_mobile. Can a single unit cover front and rear effectively?

Simple answer - no.

If the intention is to have the driver-cabin and the road ahead to be captured, this is an option. It's also an option as a helmet cam for bikes.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I am using SJCam sj5000x and DDPAI mini for quite some time now... SJ cam works like charm in both day and night.. DDPAI is used for rear so clarity is not much. But it's good protection overall

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hello fellow Team-BHPians,

I have a Scorpio S10 AT (Oct 2016).
I have installed AutoCop's tracker from the start.

Now it seems that Autocop is going under! So, I talked to the guy who had done the installation then. He is suggesting a MapMyIndia unit.

When I asked him about dashcam options, he has suggested to go for Kent unit. Can somebody comment and soon? I have only got this Satuday (26 Nov 2022) to get this work done. Additionally, he is suggesting that if I go in for Kent dashcam unit (for approx Rs 25k) then I need not install MapMyIndia tracker.

I feel the tracker with anti-theft features is critically useful. At least the page about it says that there is a remote immobilizer. I will have to get confirmation. I doubt if the Kent unit can do that.

I am badly confused!

Any help would be appreciated in this matter! Thanking you in advance....

Regards,

Girish Mahajan

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I am planning to buy a Dash cam soon and the reviews and recommendations helped me with the basic know how and the various differences between models. I think I am going to buy the 70mai Pro+ and I will post my observations after that.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

How can we enable a time lapse recording as a normal playback ?

If this is already answered/discussed elsewhere kindly share the link.

Thanks in advance
