Actually it was made available for 4 or 5 days by the seller. So it is still available for $6. However, the black one which is comparatively more conspicuous is already sold out and a few Blue ones are on sale today. I don't think there will be any left by tomorrow.

I wanted to order a 4th one today for gifting. Now am debating whether picking up a blue one that almost shouts out about its presence is really such a good idea.

I have ordered blue one, can make it inconspicuous by painting/covering it. I guess that should not be a problem.

I ordered three after the first one, so that must say I am satisified.
I must say serves the purpose. Typical chinese stuff with a few niggles like a reversed OSD button assignments(not a big issue) and a pretty large file size.

But clarity is better than the Blaukpunkt dashcam and both day and night videos are pretty good, with negligible noise in the night.

Here are a few posts that I have quoted which details the various aspects of the cam.
Note that the one I purchased still sells for $19 so I am really not sure what is the reason here we get it for $6. I brought three more taking to trust their refund system which has worked before.

The only issue I am facing now is the 1080p video seems a bit choppy at some short sections. I suspect it is more of a memory card issue since the camera records really huge files and the card(Strontium class 10 32GB) is not able to take the write load.
In short,
Pros:
  • Cheap price
  • Quality is good
  • Clarity and field of view is good
  • Provides complete functionality - G sensor, auto start stop, various resolution options, time overlay
Cons:
  • File size is too big, say 3 minutes of a 720p video take ~400MB\
  • Video gets choppy at few places
  • Battery backup is just enough to save the recording and shut down.
Here is a video I compiled out of the cam. The original video clips aare clearer since this is a highly compressed video.

Well well well

That is the product that my company manufactures, not the product that I use, else why would I be driving a wagonR of all the cars

But frankly, I have to appreciate the kind of info you have extracted from that five minute piece of video. Really impressive eye you ve got there.
Here is how it is installed and how it sits in the car

My requirements are:
  1. reqired for a santa fe
  2. reqire both front and rear cams
  3. want the camera to be small and unobstrusive
  4. would like better attaching method than suction caps. Dont mind if permanent.
The only one that i can find with the above is the spy tec k1s dual car dash camera

Are there any others? Is spy tec available in india?

I am using the DOD LS430W since 2013 . They are now available on Amazon India . A bit pricey but are very reliable and have very good night recording capabilities .

http://www.dod-tec.com/

You can check out other options on their website .

I know the Indian importer personally as he is also a member of HVK forum . PM me incase you need his contact details .

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

So I just went through the last few pages and to what accuracy I counted there should be 27 GT300(name sounds cool no?) dashcams coming to this thread in the next two months Its raining dashcams and hope we all dont end up with some counterfeit or defective pieces being sold at a very cheap rate

Check the transactions on the seller's page. There's at least 2 orders from India on each page. Also there is no feedback for the product as it was put up on sale around 16th Jan itself and has scored a lot of orders. Hope every order is fulfilled. Maybe the 'Hit a jaywalker. Now what?' thread combined with dirt cheap price influenced people to dive in and buy it.

I've ordered one as well but I am an absolute illiterate when it comes to DIYs. Do Maruti service centers install it for you? I mean running the wire inside beams/connecting direct to fuse etc.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Went with the gang here and ordered the GT300 along with a hard wire kit and fuse tap after reading over the reviews. Getting ready for my first DIY. Estimated time for delivery of the products is 40 - 60 days. :(

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Got a mail today that my order was shipped by shipper's method, basically Chinese post. Anyone has any idea about China post? This product was not available yesterday evening at $6 but at around $20.

It's the cheapest way to ship from China. It will take at least a month and tracking won't work properly.

Oh well, if it's sent thru cheap shipping, it might escape customs.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Even my first order was shipped through China post air packet something. I dont know if the tracking will work.

In other news, I have ordered a bunch of Fuse taps from Aliexpress and since shipping was same for any number of pieces, I ordered 5 of them. Let me know if someone wants and I will increase the order size. People from bangalore can get a common shipment.
