Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

hi!
Any of you used this particular one from aliexpress?

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/170-D...319110290.html

its pretty similar to the one you got latent potential except for the fact that its not a clip-on and has its own bracket. Also the cable would be concealed.
The price though is more than double!
I am slightly wary of the clip on models, having read that it can later cause rattles in the cabin. Do you foresee anything like that?
The other thing i like about it is the fact that it integrates the auto dimming IRVM with the dashcam and rear cam so the number of gadgets are kept to a minimum.
however the camera is on the left side as opposed to the one mentioned by latent potential, though its got a swivel facility i wonder how it ll pan out

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I am currently deliberating between a Mini 0806 and a Transcend Drive Pro 200 (or 220, if it is significantly better). Anybody using a Mini 0806 can comment on its reliability ? I have been going through the reviews online but many users say that while the video quality is great, the reliability is not upto the mark.
Also, considering a cheaper option, the GW1-C. Only holding back because of its spotty reliability, else the sample videos show that its a great little discrete camera.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I picked up 2 Blaupunkt dashcams for friends from snapdeal when it was @2050.

One of my friend is using it and he is quite happy with it.

Video quality is not as good as my SJcam M10 Cube but at 2k, nothing to complain about. It gives 80-90% of M10's quality at 45% cost (my M10's cost was Rs.4439.77, that too when it escaped custom duty).

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Guys, Has anyone tried the Rexing V1 dashcam? I was looking on in Amazon and was quite impressed with the features and looks. I am trying to decide between Rexing and KDLINKS.

Hi sajo,

Have you ordered 0806. I have seen several reviews of 0805 here at TBHP but not seen anyone using 0806. I am also planing to order 0806 from GB.

Would it be worthwhile to wait for black friday sale?

Regards.

No, I am waiting for some feedback if anyone is actually using the 0806. It seems to be drawing some flak for having poor reliability though ,so I am leaning towards the Transcend DP200 (220 has features I do not need, so will save some money).
Is there anyway to check whether GB is sending genuine GW-1Cs? Its small and cheap and basic but with good video quality, and really, thats all I need.

Lukas LK-9370 WD Wi-Fi/Dual camera Dashcam

I have been interested in dashcams for last few months and been reading a lot on various internet fora about the latest available.

I wanted to have a dashcam which could transmit my Himalayan trips videos live back home via cell phone internet.

But the mobile operators would not let that happen, as its not possible to do port-forwarding on a mobile internet connection.

However, in USA one company has already started this feature http://www.lyfelens.com/

Since I don't think any Indian mobile operator would allow port forwarding and such large amount of data transfer in near future, i finally settled down to Lukas 9370 Wi-Fi Dual dashcam.

Bought it off Ebay, had it shipped from Korea to a friend in US who was traveling to India. Cost was USD 329.

Galaxy Toyota refused to install it in my Innova, i got the wiring done from a local accessories shop in Dwarka. No wires were cut as the power cables were inserted into the fuse box - one for 'on', another for 'Acc' position and third for 'ground'.

Full features are available here:

http://lukashd.com/dashcam/product_i...am_9370wd.html

The main features which led me to buy this dashcam were:

1. Latest technology.

2. Dual cameras.

3. No battery. Hence can withstand high temperatures when parked in Delhi summers. It has Super-capacitor.

4.Highest memory capacity. So no need to change the micro sd card midway during a 14 hour drive in hills.

5.Wi-Fi : can see Live video sitting at back when chauffer driven.

6. GPS

7. No need to cut any wires for installation.

Last weekend, i went to Badrinathji for a quick trip before closing of 'Kapaats' and had the chance to test it. Following are unboxing pixs.

Why is the video footage pausing every few seconds?

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Did a quick update of the power supply for my dashcam. Currently powered from the 12v socket with a usb adapter and wires were visible outside. Now I made everything hidden and used a proper 5v 3amp power supply with proper crimping connectors.

- 2 x snap on wire crimping connector with lock and wrap around cover
- 1 x DC-DC 12v to 5v 3amp powersupply with usb socket out
- 18awg wires
- need to add an inline fuse
All the wiring is hidden behind the dashboard and routed through the Apillar to the roof (covered with heat insulation sheet)

SJ4000 WiFi dashcam details can be found in the the post : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/produc...ml#post3796351

That was because :

1. 64 GB card was not formatted with EX-FAT.
2. The writing speed of SanDisk card was below 10MB/sec.
3. Card material was not MLC.

All these caused dropped framed.

A proper U3 card led to perfect video, Following is tonight's drive on newly opened Shalimar Bagh Flyover at Ring Road in Delhi (starting at 01:11).

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Image quality at night is quite good. How useful is the rear cam at night if there are cars behind in multiple lanes with their headlights on, especially on main beam?

I guess its the same with many other dashcams in the market. Blaupunkt BP 2.0 also comes with a pretty long cable I have heard
Any Idea if such long USB Cables are available for a normal Phone based Dashcam usage ?

Found my answer, thanks http://www.amazon.in/Plugable-Meter-.../dp/B006LFL4X0

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Performed a DIY and added couple of Cigar lighter sockets behind the dash in a friend's Punto. Used a fuse splitter, couple of scotchlock connectors and thus no cut wires.

The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread-img_20151111_095831.jpg

One of the sockets is for the dashcam. Other socket is for another charger; this one has a 6feet cable and is routed so that it comes out at the top-center of the dash. convenient for charging phone when fixed on the windshield.

The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread-img_20151111_101644.jpg

The panels covering the sockets can easily be pulled out without have to remove any screws. It is super convenient while being totally hidden with no visible wires.
