Gunbirji, I think Speedzak desperately needs your (& JB's) help. I cant help believing that there is something wrong with the setup. From his description it sounds like somepart is out of phase or did he get a lemon of a 9835?

Alpines do sound thinner than Pioneers but I found their sound (983x series) a bit more natual than the Pioneers of that time. The Pioneers I heard all sounded a bit compressed and like the bass and treble were overemphasised. See I listen to a lot of live stuff and acosutic stuff and almost no electronic music so my opnion can be coloured by this.

I used some percussion tracks from Trilok Gurtu as a test and thought the Alpine articulated the sounds better than the Pioneer (this was about 4 years ago). This is why I believe that there might be something wrong wit the setup. The change is sound should not be so radical.

Theres something wrong for sure... could be the install... But theres also a good possibilty theres nothing wrong... Some folks just love the Pioneer HU sound...

The recent Pioneer units dont really sound that bad. Bass and treble could be overemphasised due to EQ or such. Pioneer has multiple EQ and boosts, and we like to disable everything

Now every wierd thing in this world is going thru my mind. I'm not just desperate but pulling my hair out too. And I'm bracing myself for the worst!! (Hoping it does'nt happen).

I double checked the boxes and serial numbers etc.. of these units and did'nt smell anything fishy. So I think they're genuine.

As NavinJi said the other JEEs (Younger Ji) are desperately needed here. Anish from Emperor (our installers) said they're arriving soon.

damn! 3k for sub

Since you need tight bass( u need sub right?) , I suggest a sub in a box.7-8k ( if you get a sub box piece instead of buying a sub and box seperately)

Or you can get a Sony 504z for 4.5k and save 2.5k frm Pio, but Pio is more powerful tahn SOny and better.

If you could search around you can see similar setups for Lancer.

And you need 1.5 to 2k for install and RCA cables.

or get a cheaper HU but with 2 preamp out .

edit!

blau HU: 4.5k ; B&W
Sony 504z: 5k; B&W
6inch Comp : 6k, B&W
6x9 Co-ax rear: 4.5k, B&W
cable/install: 2k,

I think you may not need a sub as you dont want too much bass and hence a 6x9 would do a god job. Prices quoted were made in ref with JBL. If you can get a good Pio amp like 6100 and a better HU with the spare money.
Thanks
But i want to keep my trunk space so a box is out of the Q. Maybe an open air sub ?
what is B&W ?

I spoke with gunbir last week, i'm gonna drive in some day (this week) to work and meet up with him and see what he thinks the current setup in my lancer is PURE GARBAGE

Could be Black and white.
Could be Bowers and Wilkins.

But i think in this part of the Forum it means BILL and WARRANTY.

Open air Sub is good. But you'll have to do a decent amount of sound dampening and sound proofing in the boot. Otherwise you'll not enjoy it. A sub in a sealed box is the best for SQ. And I'll recommend that with my eyes closed.

Guys! I've got my LCDs ready and they're up and ready to be installed.
Imagine 2 LCDs showing all its' might in my ALTO!!!! I've got myself 2 extra headrest covers made so that it can be well kept hidden from unwanted attention.
But, (Oh no should I say it again??) My system sounds bad! And I'm still waiting for GURUs to land up here so that they can suggest me something to get my sound right.

Friends! I have been offered a Old Honda City 1.5Vtec for an excellent price. The car is not at all modified in any way. Not even an aftermarket speaker installed!. It was used by a doctor who used it only for his clinical runs.

Now, the question here is this: Does this car qualify for a higher end audio install? Including SQ and little SPL. I've heard people complaining about body rattles etc.. Any truth in it??
Mr. Zuhemi (C'mon, everybody knows him now) says OHC is not a very good car for high end audio. Should I take his word?

I want to do some Engine, Body mods too. So, I think this car suits fine!
Hmmmm ??? Whattya guys have to say??

Vtec is a drivers car, everyone knws it. If it was me, I would haev pepped it with more engine-wengine things + a decent...ok superb ICE

turboinda ( peter) had a city 1.5 with turbo (140bhp car) with boston acoustic ICE. Teh car was sold for 10lac

I think Zumy is wrong ther and aint their demo car a city?

me think so. gurus ! well?
