This video helped in solving this problem.

BTW, my HU brand is Blockbuster. It is from the same company (Abbtron Technologies) that makes Unplug, Moco. So, above video should help you.

Which of the settings in the video did you choose?

Also do you have low microphone audio issue in your unit?

I chose "Turn Off after sleeping for 2 hours".

Yes, there is mic issue but manageable. I need to speak a bit louder.

I have placed mic near IRVM.

You are right! I spoke with my installer after I installed CPU-Z installed, this is the first time he heard about the actual specs, these manufacturers are duping the installers and their customers, I do not think they care anyways.

It does show up as android 8.0 and with 1024MB of ram. Which explains why its sluggish. Then again, I don't mind it being a bit slow as long as it works!

Worked flawlessly for an entire 15hour trip to goa(which included big breaks and continuous music streaming through BT) if you need anymore be sure to reach out!

Is it normal for an Android HU that it resets (date/time and may be something else I didn't notice) once it is shut down?

My HU date time resets to 01/01/2020 05:30 (not 00:00 because it retains time zone +5:30) every time it is restarted. Of course it updates the time from GPS/Network within few seconds.

Re: The Android Head-Unit buying guide

I bought an Android head unit. following are the details:

Brand: BlockBuster
Model: BBT-401 (K2501)
OS: Android 10 stock
Processor: Allwinner T5 quad core 1.8GHz
RAM and ROM: 4GB and 32GB
GPU: Mali-G31
Board: exdroid
Hardware: Sun50iw9p1
Screen Res: 1024x600 IPS glass capacitive

Following are the steps that I followed while buying:
================================

1. HU should have a glass display
2. Latest Possible Android Version because these Head units mostly dont receive any software updates and android tends to slow down after time.
3. Maximum possible RAM(memory) and onboard storage(Android tends to slows down when the free storage is less than 10% of the total space)
4. Decent display and Audio quality
5. compatibility with android auto and apple carplay.

Using Fcc launcher and happy with it. Going to buy the full version.

Processor spec from the manufacturer: https://www.allwinnertech.com/upload...09152941fe.pdf

Regards,
Sivbal.

What exactly do you mean when you say "shut down"? If you are referring to just the car being switched off and locked as routine - then no. In such a case the HU doesn't do a full reset. It simply does a quick power-on when you turn the ignition ON again. It will not reset the time or anything.

If yours is resetting the time - its actually rebooting altogether, losing all your settings. It is not expected.

Please see the video. For this testing, I have selected "Power off after ACC off" so that it does not go to sleep and shuts down after ignition off.

Congrats. I have the same model.

Can you please test it in your head unit if it resets the date/time?

Thanks.

Yes then this is the behaviour that my HU(s) also show. The time resets (along with the user preferences in equalizer etc) when rebooted like this.

Is it truly 4gb? If you could check, I think a few folks mentioned that these units fudge their Ram in some way
How much did it cost you, and from where did you get it?

Did you find what you were looking for? I am planning for Woodman which has a single DIN model with 9" touch screen. Seems a bit pricey. Other options are Sony models that have single din fitment.

Yes it has real 4GB of RAM and actual Android 10(Q). It costed me around 19k including installation. Audio quality is decent. Look for T5 processor which is a improved Version of allwinner T3L processor which is a bit slower and have a older GPU.

FM radio is good. Bass is on the higher side and high frequency response is bit low. That may also do with my stock car speakers. But still you can check yourselves.

Will test it and let you know. But theoretically as car battery is considered as a reliable power source, this headunit may not have a secondary power source to keep track of the time when it is shutdown completely. Let me check that.

Sivbal.
