Thanks Mashblue for the response. I have a Ritz which has no ICE since it was purchased few years back.

Along with the Kicker 40CSS674, I have ordered a Polk DB1240 sub(in another good deal). The sub will be installed in a Baassfx vented enclosure. For the rear I have ordered DB651 coaxials. These will be driven by the head unit.

Now only remaining thing is damping. I am looking for super VFM damping sheets and am a little bit skeptical about the performance of the Kicker components though they have very good reviews everywhere. Waiting for everything to arrive and complete the installation asap.

Regards
Aditya

Re: Queries in 'Ask the gurus' section

Hello Folks

So here's the update. Total stuff bought so far -> KW-V220BTM HU, Kicker 40CSS674 components, Blaupunkt GTA 470 SF amplifier, Polk DB651 coaxials for the rear(to be delivered), Cerwin Vega 8 guage wiring kit and a single unit of RCA cable by Scosche. Sub enclosure will be some 12" Baassfx which I've to go and check out.

Polk DB1240SVC turned out old and damaged and was in fact a DVC and not a SVC and is returned already.

For the sub I am soon placing order for a Kicker 40CWS124 and lastly what remains is damping.

Thanks
Aditya

Re: Queries in 'Ask the gurus' section

Hello Gurus,

Need advice on the best upgrade to the stock speakers in the Renault Duster.

In case it helps, this is the latest Adventure Edition AWD version that comes equipped with the infotainment system.

Presently content with only speaker replacement and probably will add an amp and other additions some time later.

My music sounds preferences :

1. 25% - South Indian classical vocals and instrumentals.
2. 25% - Hollywood musicals / Yanni / Blues / Orchestration pieces - European / American / Global.
3. 25% - Indian Movie songs - Hindi, Tamil & Non-filmy Indie.
4. 25% - Radio in whichever lingo am travelling in.!!!

My current setup is a Blaupunkt series with the OD series in the parcel tray, VC series fronts powered by a Blau 4 channel amp. Blaupunkt Bass Box in the trunk powered by an Alpine 4 channel amp.

Looking forward to your inputs please.

Re: Queries in 'Ask the gurus' section

Hello Folks

There is a slight change. Polk DB1240SVC sub has been arranged from somewhere. This time brand new and sealed pack. Also, Polk DB6502 components have been arranged.

This makes it Polk front components, Polk rear coaxials, Polk subwoofer, Blaupunkt Amp and a JVC HU.

I am getting STP 10 sheets around 7.5k. Is that a good price? Is it necessary to get damping done on a Ritz? Everything else is set.

Thanks
Aditya

The key missing element currently in the Duster stock system is clarity.

This may also be a comparative issue as the my ex-car the Toyota was indeed well equipped to handle that clarity for instrumentals.

Is there anything i can do to bring in more sound clarity.?

Re: Queries in 'Ask the gurus' section

you're on the right path already - upgrading the comps up front should be the first thing to do.

there is a dedicated thread for the duster

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-en...n-terrano.html

that might be helpful wrt brands & sizes

Re: Queries in 'Ask the gurus' section

This is really informative
however I am not that technical about music systems.
I got a Figo old model and I feel the stock system is very less in bass quality.
Can I add on any bass tube with my stock music system?
What exactly I can do to increase the bass?

thanks.

Hello SVK
If you are only looking for more bass, first thing is to check if the stock head unit in your car has pre-out for a subwoofer. If it has one, you can share your budget with us and we can recommend an amplifier and a subwoofer/bass tube that fits your budget.

In case the stock head unit does not have subwoofer level pre-out then you'll also have to buy a new head unit. I hope this helps.

Thanks
Aditya

Re: Queries in 'Ask the gurus' section

Dear all
I am facing one problem for my music system. It is the stock system of old Ford Figo.
The system is not working. As soon as I am starting the car the music system is showing wait for 30 mins. Then after that it is asking for some pass key.
Please tell me how can I rectify this. I was not provided with any kind of pass key.
Does anyone have any solution for this?
Thanks in advance.

Look in your dash, or in the user manual. The key will be there. As far as i recall, the system locks up after removing the battery, or disconnecting the stereo. I am not sure.
Anyway, the key is provided.

If its not found whats the procedure to activate it.

Thanks.

Stuck inside the glove-box somewhere, or maybe even on the stereo. The only option, i think , is to take to ford for doing it in case the key is not available.
