Re: Help on Communication Nerve Center for Vento

oh hey, sorry, i forgot to add this.
Vento, yes?
I just helped out my FIl with a vento.
Got rid of the OE HU.
got the following done:
Pioneer AVH 3200(3300??) DVD BT HU, MMI, Reverse camera + Sensors.
cost 48 k.
could have been lowered to about 42, if bargained, or shopped around.
The HU takes care of the maps and the camera display too.
Exclude the MMI, its 19k less.

You could look for chepaer options with a megaudio, there's a thread circulating about OE replacement in a cruze.

Re: ICE for my VW Vento?

Got the Witson unit fitted in my vento.
Sorry for the delayed post. Had this installed in june. Upgraded the speakers as well. Stock speakers came off and had Morel Maximoco axials up front. You can see the tweeters on the A pillar. Auditor speakers at the rear.
Auditor 4 channel amp powering up the front speakers.

using Map my India maps for the GPS.
Only drawback is the bluetooth, which does not tload the contacts list. All else is perfect.
Have not installed the reverse cam which i purchased from witson as yet, due to size misfit.

Excellent SQ.I am very satisfied with this for now. Plan to upgrade , after I gain some insight into the world of ICE. Still a noob at this.

Got this work done at Jerrys Performance , in Trivandrum. Have to add- Excellent work done by them, No wires cut, couplers were used. Very professional work. Have no complaints so far.

Sorry for the late reply. Access from on board my vessel is quite tedious.
IIRC, i think it cost me a total of around 25k..inclusive of installation charges.
So that was for components, co axials, wiring , 4 channel amp plus some extra connectors/harnesses.

Thanks, Ventolute. That's a pretty awesome setup you have managed on a decent budget. The Witson would have been around 22k, so in under 50k this is super. The Caska unit alone costs about as much!!

And also thanks for the pics. I was worried about the menu icons, but they look okay to me.

Re: ICE for my VW Vento?

I am currently looking for a music system to be installed in a Vento's sibling. Yes, the Skoda Rapid. I have booked a Skoda Rapid and am waiting for the launch/delivery. In the mean time, figuring out the best HU. Since the Rapid carries the same Dash as the Vento, the panels and fittings are bound to be the same. Here is my requirement:

1. A Touch screen HU with DVD, USB and iPhone/iPod compatibility
2. A 7" Touch screen preferred to a 6.1" or 6.2" screen. Can compromise if there is no other go
3. A screen resolution of 800*480 preferred as against 480*240
4. Bluetooth NOT required
5. I would like the unit to fit into the Dash. I guess the JVC AVC series protrudes (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/produc...thread-10.html)
6. Budget 25K
7. Not looking at the Chinese brands to start with (ie. Caska, Witson, Motevo etc.)

I can see from this thread that the Pioneer 4250 is a VFM HU but it doesn't seem to match all of the above said requirements (resolution and screen size). I found Mega Audio VW OE fit (Volkswagen Series (Vento / Polo / Passat)) in the market selling for 34K in chennai but that again is only 6.2".

Is there a Blaupunkt, Alpine or a Kenwood model with 7" screen that I can trust and check out ?

Re: ICE for my VW Vento?

+1 to krish.satish. i am booking my rapid tomorrow and hope to get it ICE'd too. some suggestions should be welcome. i am looking at the same specs as satish, only diff being that i can do away with the dvd but bluetooth has to be included. my music preference is drum and bass and lots of soft rock, blues and bollywood classics. the bass output has to be really tight with overall acoustics having a surround feel to it!!! . looking forward to some suggestions.

I did some research. If you are going in for a 7" screen, the HU WILL protrude from the Dash it looks like. I am deciding on the compromise to go in for a 6.2" screen which fits well within the Dash. Since Bluetooth is not a mandate for me, there are suitable models in Kenwood, Pioneer and JVC. I'll have a demo of all these brands before buying. Without BT, the HUs cost anywhere between 18-20K in all these brands. Speakers (front component and rear coaxial ) should cost 10-12K. So, its about 30K for a basic setup.
