I have been using McAfee 8.0i before, and now am using 8.5i with the anti-spyware plugin. It has been pretty decent, and have not seen any notice-able fall in speed on my computer.

Generally speaking, I have felt that the corporate editions - of both Symantec and McAfee - seem to do a better job than the home editions.

avg website indicates 30 day trials only. for all variants.

kaspersky isnt free. and from a close friend, have seen that they update all cracked serials within months - so cracked bhi use mat karo - never kaspersky.

avast i wsnt satisfied.

eset nod32 is okay, but eats 50% of one CPU. Slightly irritating at times. but corporate hai toh i am not bothered

1) Kaspersky : Works well. As soon as I uninstall it, I had to format my OS. I dont know why. And what I had used were trial versions.
Never use this.

2) AVG : Works well. Every 30 days, I download a new one. This is how my antivirus works.
This is the best.

3) McAfee : Dad bought it for his PC. Very poor user interface. Cannot look into settings. Checks around 60GB data in 12 minutes. Never picks up any virus. Yesterday, my father hooked his HDD into my PC, and we scanned his HDD with my free AVG. Result : 53 virus found. They came from my dad's office.
Never use this.

4) I have noticed that bit defender is the best. Finds everything pretty fast. Earlier my father had this installed.

5) Avast : Was great initially. Good that it is free for one year. But it is not the best. One of its feature is the best i.e. Boot time scan. If you feel some pretty serious infection is in your PC, run avast boot time scan. It is good for trojans.

Question : My father connects his Nokia N73 music edition phone in his office pc. Transfers data which usually happens to be excel files or word files or C programmes. And then at home connects this phone to his PC at home, transfers the files. This is the most likely source of virus. Now my question is : Can the phone be damaged by these viruses ?

When you get a legal 3-user copy of Kaspersky, for around 500 bucks, I don't think it's necessary to skimp. I think that under 170 bucks per PC, that's practically free!

Same here. It really is the best. I have it on 5 machines (two have the Internet Security edition on them). The new 2009 version is a bit of a nagger with popups for nearly anything, but the notifications can be turned off if we want to do that.

I totally agree! In fact, i was so generous, i donated two licences to my friends for free!

The only downside being that i purchased version 7, while version 9 is the current one. :(
