For them, world of headphones start with Skullcandy at lower range and ends with Dr. Dre Beats at upper end. I do agree that they are an improvement from previous Skullcandy headphones as recently their sound design head was replaced but by no means it has better SQ and sound stage than AT M30 or HTX7.

The good thing about headphones is, what i like, you may not like, so it will depend on individual's hearing. I hope you like it and do keep us updated.
Damn, should have visited this thread before buying so that at least i could have heard some brands before jumping into the SK's. Well good SQ is always an upgrade away they say

Also, do u say the Audio technica & panasonic have better SQ because the Skull's are a little bassy and due to this the mids are overpowered to some extent?

Will try out some Head phones next time around . Once again thanks for the inputs

Honestly, i am not very technically inclined. I just mentioned what i heard through my ears and that too in store with pre-loaded music. I would love to buy and test but i am not into all those stuff.

AT and Pana has better SQ because of better vocals that don't lose its quality when it matters most (think classical). M30 and M50 have very good bass, comparable in quantity to Skulls but much much better quality. Skull's bass is muddy. It also doesn't extend very low like others. And since it has loads of bloated/muddy bass it overrides mids thereby ruining major instruments that i like to hear.

But do give them a try. Tweak it a little with EQ and burn-in, may be you will like the sound it produces. As the saying goes, one man's trash could be another man's treasure.

A similar product is available from Sennheiser, called HD203 which I own since 4 months. Its a ditto of HD202 except some kind of matte grey finish on the hair band. This is also supra-aural kind. Needless to say it has amazing sound quality and a perfect partner for music listeners.

re: The Headphones Thread

Guys, raking up an old thread.

Just bought myself a Sennheiser HD 202 II from Snapdeal.com for 1920/-

Got the delivery today and I am happy for putting my money on it. Fantastic bass and voice clarity. Comfortable to use and doesn't give the pain to the ears. Due to the closed feel I am not able to hear external sounds and sort of noise-cancellation feature.

They have give a belt clip for the long wiring (3m) and a 6.3 mm connector pin.

re: The Headphones Thread

Bought "Audio Technica ATH-50prof studio monitor headphones" last week. Costed me $147. Absolutely love it for its SQ, however bass could have been better for it to be perfect match for my taste. Delivers truly high density sound.

It is over the head type and relatively heavy. However not so painful to wear it for long as the ear pads are extremely soft.

re: The Headphones Thread

I bought JVC HA-S500 from Amazon after reading the fan appreciation thread on head-fi and am loving it. Apparently, its in the same league as ATH M-50 and V-moda M-80 while costing a third of their price.

Thanks. I got myself a Senn RS 110 II in Dec 2012. We've been using it quite regularly. It serves the purpose well although there is some hiss at times.

re: The Headphones Thread

I am looking at Audio Technica AD700 - amazon india has it for 7k. Primarily they will be used for gaming with some music and movies. Any other options in this price range ? I can also source from US - budget is around ~$100.

AD700 is a great choice for the budget Super comfy and sounds great. However people around you will hear everything and eventually get irritated - Might as well go with A700 if you do not want to irritate your neighbors.

A700 isnt available :( Anyway i am OK with Open design. Other choices are -

Siberia V2 (~$60)
Sennheiser HD449 (INR 4000) + Mic
Sennheiser PC330 (~$80)
Creative Aurvana Live (INR 7000 / $75) + Mic
Shure SRH440 (INR 6500) + Mic

Only concern with AD700 is lack of bass ?

What about M50? Is it available? If you're okay with open design then go for it! Sorry but haven't heard the rest of the list.
