re: The iPhone Thread

Google updated its search app on iOS with real time voice recognition and informative cards like Google Now on Android.

Finally iPhone users can taste some of Jelly Bean goodness . What do you guys think about it? I know it works amazingly well on Android - even with Indian accent.

Anyway, have ordered for a gadgetshieldz full body skin for the phone.

Another naive question (pardon a newbie apple fellow here) - how does one figure if the phone is locked/unlocked? I'm able to use the Airtel sim without any issues.
1) The visible metallic portion of the phone = the anodized part.

2) The first time you connected to iTunes, it would have clearly displayed if the phone is unlocked or not. Another way is to try to use a sim from a different carrier .

Try a reset of network settings, it should solve the problem.

Try a full back up and restore, and hope the wifi toggle is set ON?

Excellent! And make sure that you connect to iTunes and get the OS updated to iOS6.

I found iOS6 to be a poor upgrade. Apart from losing YouTube and gaining the useless Apple Maps, device performance has deteriorated. Boot up takes the same time, but then the screen unlock slider doesn't respond for a few seconds longer. Wifi is another pain now, with having to reboot at times for it to connect.

Would not recommend an update just yet, at least until these bugs are fixed.

Try to backup the phone and restore from backup. It helps sometimes. I have been using iOS 6 since day one of release and found no issues. Of course, the Maps app totally sucks.

You can now download the YouTube app from the App Store.

I agree with fuel_addict. I did the upgrade on both 4 and 4S and never had any issues. Probably it’s an issue with your phone/software. Infact with iOS 6, I find the 4S as good as the 5 (on the available features).

I am on ios6 across the pad the pod and now the phone. No worries there!

Ref Apple TV even I bought one from Australia but simply did not use it because of no access to netflix etc here in India. I gave it to my pal who is more apple savvy than I will ever be!

Of course it can be. But you would have already paid for the contract or would be paying it for next 2 years and on top of that you would pay to some SP in India. Too much of waste of money I feel.

iPhone 5 launch:
iPhone 5 Launch Event from 7 PM onwards on 2nd Nov'2012 @ Gurgaon – Galleria – DLF Phase 4, Delhi – DLF Place, Saket, Mumbai – Inorbit mall, Malad, Bangalore – UB city
