Are these prices from apple store or grey market. 4350 AED for 16GB ~ 65k INR is quite high IMO.

Yes. Singapore is definitely cheaper. In fact when i4 came out I found London significantly cheaper than DXB!

However, i4S is pretty ok here at about 2300 for the 16GB and 2700 for 32GB. In KL last month or end Aug the i4S 32GB was 1900MYR or so.

Too bad the rumour isnt going to be real. I am so deep into Apple ecosystem that I cant think of coming out of it and settle for an Android or Windows phone. Anyways, this is in line with what Tim Cook had mentioned once that he is not much interested in markets like India where the volumes much too low compared to the US and Europe markets.

So if one gets the iPhone 5 from US or SG, how are we going to get our hands on the Nano SIM?

Finally was able to get around the upgrade issue. Tried almost every solution but Errors kept on resurfacing one after the other. Editing the host files in Windows settings helped. Both iTunes & 4S on latest platforms now.

re: The iPhone Thread

noticed a small bug yesterday in App Store. when updates are available, App Store installs apps which have already been removed.

for example, i had NavFree on my phone, but after bookmarking Google Maps, i removed it. yesterday i got a update for it via App Store. it shouldn't have notified me of the update since the application no longer resides on my phone!

There was a news that Vodafone and Airtel have already ordered lots of Nano SIMs. And if you scroll through the last 2-3 pages on this thread, you will know how to convert your current SIM to a Nano SIM.

re: The iPhone Thread

One of my relatives is coming down from US this month. She recently upgraded to the iPhone 5 from iPhone3. Wanted to know whether that iPhone 3 can be used here. I think it shouldn't be a problem. Also any precautions to be taken back in the US with the service provider, it's out of contract i believe.

re: The iPhone Thread

Did any one of you guys updated your IP4S to iOS6? How good is the experience? Do I need to take any special precautions before the update? Kindly throw in your suggestions.

Yes, it should work provided the device is unlocked. In general, the device can be unlocked through the service provider itself for a fee.

There are other ways too if the device is locked to a carrier. But, the easiest and best way is to have it unlocked via the carrier.

Do note that most of the new apps does not support 3G, though 3GS has a wider support. Also, the latest iOS updates are again only for 3GS onwards.

Also you might want to check how the battery life is now.

Yes it can be used but you need to get it unlocked before bringing it down.

All the operators in the US now unlock Iphones that are out of contract free of charge. It's an official unlock.

I did that. Experience so far has been almost similar leave for the "Do not disturb feature, different background for the keypad & a couple of more things."

On the flip side, the battery seems to be draining faster. So not much in terms of improvement.

Regarding precautions to be taken, Backup your data or whatever you want back on your device before updating.
