Hi buddy, Thanks a lot.

I just called up VF helpline again & explained to them my situation. the really helpful executive advised me to get "roam like home" activated on her VF number (mumbai number currently being used in Pune) so that I can continue making free calls to her & she will also not face any roaming charges.

Best of all -

1) Roam like home is applicable in entire Maharashtra
2) It has no rental or activation charges
3) It was started as many VF customers are from Nerul, Khargar, Navi Mumbai, etc.

I have this plan activated for the said person's number. It was fine until she was in Mumbai. But now that she has moved to Pune and if I call her, although for me it is still free, for her, she has to bear incoming charges as she is in "roaming".

As said, she already has a Vodafone postpaid number & its a Mumbai number. Since she is in roaming, she would be charged for incoming also, isnt it?

This sounds good. So unlike Vodafone, Idea does not consider Pune as STD?

This is news to me, I will enquire about it. I did call up VF helpline, but they could not help me.
No even on Vodafone Mumbai the incoming is totally free when in pune as i have experienced the same and calls from Vodafone to even pune numbers are local.

Kindly ask the person in Pune to select the Vodafone Network manually.

Calls to 111 are generally not helpful.

All you need to do is visit Vodafone Store and eat their head and get the things sorted out, also get a reference number for your complaint and after that shoot a mail to Vodafone with the reference number and name of the person whom you met in Vodafone store (Email would be sent you through PM)

Calls 111 are generally not much of help.

Edit: I replied a bit late got stuck in some urgent work in office, good to know that you sorted out the issues.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Folks,

Where can I find updates/reviews on HTC EVO 3D? Is it worth going for this one in comparison with LG Optimus 3D or Samsung Galaxy SII?

Thanks in Advance.

You should ask this question in the Android thread.

My hands on reviews-
EVO 3D review - Review: Sprint HTC EVO 3D - World's 1st (Proper) 3D Phone - Reliance Mobile (CDMA & GSM) - Discussion Forums
Samsung Galaxy SII review - Review: Sprint Samsung Galaxy SII - Epic 4G Touch - The Mammoth - Reliance Mobile (CDMA & GSM) - Discussion Forums
Samsung Nexus-S 4G review - Review: Samsung Google Nexus-S 4G From Sprint - Curvy Babe - Reliance Mobile (CDMA & GSM) - Discussion Forums

3 of my favorite current phones. You can't go wrong with either. Avoid the LG, though its not bad, but not in the same league as the above.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Have a question for all WhatsApp users here. Today I installed Whatsapp on my Nokia Xpressmusic 5800. I downloaded the app from Whatsapp site only – after installing the app I got a notification that the app is free to use till July 2012 after which I will have to buy the app. I always thought WhatsApp was a free app – Does anyone know about this?

Its only free on Android. For BB and Symbian (no idea of IOS) the first year is free. After which you have to pay.

Thanks for the clarification! I am using my 16 months old Nokia 5800. I will be shifting soon to an Android so no paying for WhatsApp!

But what is the reason for such a distinction? Why only Android people get it for free? Just curious.....

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Has anyone bought Nokia 701 (not Lumia 710) handset? What is the opinion with regard to that phone and "symbian"OS? Is it worth 17k . I found it quite slim and handy. I have BB,will i be able to transfer all my contacts to that phone? I am looking for a slim and light weight phone, easy texting ,good camera with zoom and good sound, all for less than 20K.Thanks in advance.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

vb-san and vikram_d: there's this particular issue with my HTC HD7 Mango.

Whenever I send/forward messages to multiple people, there's a 50% chance the message can't be delivered. I can't seem to find out why.

All the contacts who I'm sending the message to have their numbers saved under the mobile category and yet this problem crops up.

Any pointers?
