@ Sushil, I am using the P780, in fact typing from it. Except for the size, which takes some getting used to. I don't miss the Samsung.

The battery lasts for a day and a half, and I am not a lite user. Phone is pretty fast and screen resolution is sharp enough. I am happy I picked up, as I needed the long life battery and I got that with the whole Android package.

Hi BHPians,
I am also looking for a Mid level Smart phone. I am a first time user and currently in US. Yes I am still using the basic phones and not really a big fan.

Here in US, I dont want to go in Contract and get locked. I need freedom but not seeing big deals for Unlocked phones.

If I come to India, Can I use these phones in India also for Data too. Not looking at high speed compatibility, but if it would work 3G should be fine.

Main criteria is easy to use, good battery. Suggestion on any other phones also Welcome.

I read decent reviews on Sony Xperia SP. Can also look at Nokia Lumia 520 or Samsung Galaxy Duos. Suggestions are Welcome.

^ Ananthang, if you are going to be here till January then buy Moto G. You can't get anything better in that price range.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

I am seriously bored of my iPhone 4. now being almost 3 years old it has become slower in terms of performance and to sprinkle salt to a LIVE wound iOS 7 is playing major role which makes my phone even slower. I am contemplating which phone to upgrade to next?

If i buy latest iphone say iPhone 5S only difference would be it will be super fast processor, with larger screen and you got to enjoy all the special functionality reserved by apple only for iPhone 5S!!

I hate samsung and also hate Android (though no offense meant to people). But this is my personal opinion and it is based on constantly trying to explore my wife's phone. her's is Galaxy S4 and i sincerely feel (again personal opinion and no offense meant to anyone) that once you are used to iOS and iPhone hardware you will feel Samsung + Android sucks!!

That said, last week i got an opportunity to demo Lumia 1020 and i was really impressed. Right now in great confusion whether to go for it or wait until iPhone 6 is released next year? Me buying any phone with android is out of question.

Need honest opinion from people who are neither apple fanboys nor apple bashers/haters. Should i go for lumia 1020 or wait for iPhone 6?

Thanks for your suggestions

Just a word of caution to people looking to buy the iPhone 5c or 5s. The initial batches dispatched to India seem to have display issue( pixelation issue).
My friend's new 5s had this display problem. The best part is that the replacement which he has been provided also has the same problem. We also noticed this issue on few of the display pieces as well

It seems to be a case of problematic display for a few batches. I would suggest people to check their phones well before buying.

If you ask folks like me or ideally Samurai - going for the 1020 is a good enough idea. But it all depends on the price. e.g I am now kicking myself for not purchasing the 920 over the S3 (given that winphone has sorted out most of its issues with apps such as whatsapp etc). I had no bloody idea the S3 lagged so much. What's the point of a quad or octa core if basic UI operations like task switching are laggy? (which is not so in a humble iphone4S which doesnt have the outright speeds of the droids).

My recommendation would be the iPhone 5S. The boredom could be from the fact that you’re using an iPhone 4.
But otherwise, the high-end Lumia phones are quite good. I am currently on Lumia 625 (was using iPhone 5 and Note 2 prior to this).

If you’re going for the Lumia, I would suggest 925 instead of 1020. The latter has added bulk due to the camera, but in reality the camera of 925 is really good and much easier to carry around. And it is cheaper as well.

How is the 925 in respect to the issues like call hearing problem and heating issue. Planning to exchange my Galaxy S Duos with this on flipkart. Also it has 10% cash back(SBI Card) as well additionally. Hence the price will come down to 25499 (after exchange) and additional 10% cash back further brings it around 22950. Need your overall feedback on 925. Thanks.

For this question, it maybe better to check with some 925 users in the Windows Phone thread. I just checked with my colleague who use a 925, and she did not have any call problems/heating issues with the phone. Overall the phone looked pretty good, and I chose 625 only because of the price, and it had all the key features I needed from a phone (call quality, battery life, LTE, good internet browser, Whatsapp, FB etc.).

I am currently in a fix to choose between Xperia M Dual vs Galaxy Core vs HTC Desire X Dual.

Spec-wise Galaxy Core (1 GB RAM, 8 GB storage) is better followed by Xperia M (1 GB RAM, 4 GB storage) and finally HTC Desire X (768 MB RAM, 4 GB storage). But, great thing about HTC is how sleek and slim it is - fit perfectly in hands. Xperia M comes next and followed by Galaxy Core.
I am inclined towards Xperia M (better display, can record 720p video, NFC, etc), but I wanted to know how it works in actual world. I am particularly interested in ease of use and intutive experience. Wanted this for wifey who needs a dual SIM option.

BTW, I heard Samsung's Smal Dual SIM is actually an eyewash and it just forwards call from SIM2 to other SIM1 if SIM1 is busy? Is it same in Xperia?

Do check out Moto G , budget phone ,has a very good battery backup . Has 8gb and 16GB options , but no SD card storage unfortunately.

Lumia 520 is a good phone no doubt , but the camera is a let down in low light .There were some issues with the music player on most windows phone. Please go through the Windows phone thread on this forum .

Looking for a android smartphone with dual sim, quad core, 1 gb ram, screen max 5 inch, budget 15-17k.
Shortlisted on Samsung grand quattro or Lenono P780.
In terms of specs P780 is definitely winner but want to check whether second sim cqn receive / gives call waiting instead of unavailable when first sim is in use.
Anybody using P780, how it performs, worth buying?
