Has anybody on this forum actually used Moto G? My friend in US can get it for me in India but, I would like to know real world experience. Also, there are different models available on their website - one of them being Global SIM model. I suppose, I should ask for that model?
Any other thing I need to keep in mind while getting a phone from US?

+1 to that.

Moto G is certainly a very good option.

- 4.5 inch full HD screen
- Updated Android Kitkat OS
- Will be available in two options - 8GB(5.01 GB available for user) and 16 GB(13 GB available for user)
- Non replaceable battery
- Almost stock Android (not customised by Motorola)
- 5 MP main camera
- 1.3 MP front camera
- 720 ps video recording
- 339 ppi screen clarity(at par with iphone 5S)

The reviews of the mobile are extremely favourable. Other than the fact that the phone has a mediocre camera and non expandable SD slots, the phone scres in every department.

The expected launch date- 14th January 2014.

Expected Price:

8 GB- Rs. 15,500/-
16 GB- Rs. 18,999/-

Hey guys , anyone here using the Lenovo A390 or the Panasonic T31 ?
I want to buy one of these as a gift for someone who hasnt experienced a Smartphone yet, within the next one or two days.
Any opinions on the Lumia 520 ? It has low RAM and no front camera, and is also priced slightly higher than the contenders I mentioned above.. but is it worth considering ?

Lenovo a369i is better than that.

All the android phones around 5-6k price come with poor cameras without auto focus. If that is not an issue Lenovo a369i is a pretty good option.

Around 8-9k Nokia 520,Samsung duos2, xolo q800 x- edition are good options with decent camera quality.

My wife has been using the Lumia 520 since 10 months now. The low RAM hasn't ever been a bother for her. Her usage is primarily calling / social networking / maps (Nokia offers Here Drive maps which requires no data connection)

The battery lasts for a day and a little over.

Hope this helps

Considering a phone between a budget of 5k to 10k for my mom. Has to be very basic & with a keyboard. Not sure if she would be comfortable with touchscreen!
She presently uses a Nokia N79 which i previously used for 4yrs. The phone has started giving problems like not enough phone memory, its also started to hang now & become very slow & unresponsive. I have narrowed down my search to Nokia 208 & Nokia 515. Any other phones to consider? Maybe from Samsung?

Hi All,

Had gone to purchase Lenovo P780 for my wife last week. After scouting it for 2 hrs unsuccessfully, we started looking out for Nexus 5. Same result.
Suddenly saw a Xolo Q3000 in one of the outlets. After playing with it for about an hour (yes, an hour) bought it for my wife.

- 5.7 inches screen

-Full HD Display (1920 X 1080)

- 2 GB RAM

-1.5 GHz Quad Core Mediatek Processor (A7 Architecture). My Galaxy Grand is dual core with A9 architecture.

- Internal memory 16 GB, expandable to 32 GB with micro sd

- Dual Sim

- Humongous 4000 mAh battery which easily lasts 3 days with wifi always on

- INR 19500/-

- Box contains Screen Guard, Flip Cover, OTG Cable, Earphones, Charger, Battery n Phone.

Have been using it since a week and I am happy that I saved a minimum of 10k by not buying a Nexus 5. The way this phone operates, I dont need anything else!!

The entire Galaxy Grand fits exactly on the Xolo Q3000's screen!

You bought it for your wife and you have been using it for a week?
:-D
Jokes apart, is it really good with respect to the Grand? I was using the grand before getting the Sony Xperia z a couple of weeks ago.
I miss the grand's dual sim and battery backup. I actually sold it so I can buy the grand 2. Is the Xolo good enough?

Nope, my wife has been using it. I just go through it when I get time after office.

From my experience so far, its the best bang for your buck.

Doesnt have some smart features of Samsung like Screen Stay, Flip To Mute, Place near your ear to call, to name a few. But to be honest, I dont use them in my Grand even though they are inherent, so not ruing about the fact they are absent in Xolo.

Humongous battery, 16 gb internal storage, 2 gb RAM, Full HD Screen, Dual Sim and 13 MP Camera are enough to keep one hooked.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Does anyone here have the Gionee Gpad G3 or Micromax Canvas fun A74?

I went to buy a Lumia 520 and these two phones got me really tempted and confused.

On one hand I can buy a Lumia for 8k and enjoy a lag free experience with a screen size of 4 inches while on the other hand I can get the Canvas or G3 for 7-9k with screen size 4.5 inch and 5.5 inch respectively.

The only thing that is holding me against these two phones is the lack of confidence in these brands and their A.S.S as well as reliability and possibility of poor performance later on

Too confused. Any suggestions? Budget anything upto 10k since I don't use my phones for a long time and rather it is more of an (ab)use

Main criteria -
Should have least possible or even zero lag
Call quality should be good
Use apps like Whatsapp, BBM, FB, Instagram, opera mini, zomato, bookmyshow. That's it. I already have an iPod touch for music and gaming needs. Couldn't care much about the camera too

Don't go for the Lumia 520 now (unless the price difference is significant) since Lumia 525 has already been launched and selling for <10k.

525 has better display, better camera and double the RAM.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

My hunt has started to purchase a good phone for my wife. She is now using the Tab 3 and bored with it. Its already for sale in our classifieds.
This time we are clear its no more a Samsung. So was hunting on those lines and saw these Lenovo phones.
S960 and P780
For us S960 is very stylish, sleek and light weight. This is what all girls like.
Checked the reviews and they say there is a slight sluggishness when opening apps and playing games. How significant it is?
Has anybody used the S960?
Which one do you people suggest.

When browsing through this thread, came across Xolo Q3000, how good is this? What about service centre availability?
