I hope you are aware that Moto X is a single sim phone and Moto G is double sim one.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Is there someone here who works for a carrier company like Vodafone, Airtel, Idea Cellular?
Some imported handsets seem to show invalid IMEI in the carrier database here in India and probably the reason whey they fail to register on the network.

Please PM me to discuss this if you work for such a service provider company.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

I am currently using a basic Nokia X2-02 handset with dual sim option.

In the last few months, my usage has changed due to work.

What I am looking for;

Android or Windows Phone (I am fine with either of them)
Use Whats App
Good camera - Rear and Front camera for Video calling (Skype)
Access official emails
Single SIM or Dual SIM
Good battery back up
Budget - 10 to 15 K Max

I am looking at considering Nokia Lumia 720 around 16K on Flipkart. It is Single Sim, Good Rear Camera of 6.7 Megapixels, Front Camera for video calling (Skype), Microsoft push mail and the added advantage of Nokia Here drive (Voice guided navigation system).

Accessing & responding to emails with ease, Good camera for Skype calls & battery back up are my top priorities.

Any other options. advise.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Guys, i am considering a phone for a long time now. Have been a little too extra cautious with spending money.

I'm looking at 3 deals now

1. Xperia Z1 for 33 K on ebay
2. Samsung S4 ( 1 year old phone) for 27 K
3. Moto X/Moto G ( Worried about after sales support) Had to wait for 3 months for a battery replacement for my brother's RAzor driod + Limited storage.

Need a phone which should work flawlessly for 2-3 years minimum with good after sales support just in case i happen to brick the phone

PS: Currently using 2.5 year old Samsung Galaxy Y rooted and lag free.

Just note: All the phones listed above are already old. So, the new models are about to come out very soon (say less than 3 months).
If you want to keep the phone for 2-3 years minimum, then consider any phone with replaceable battery since the battery will not last that long with daily charging that you need to do.

Any recommendations from the upcoming one's ?

The flagships will cost a bomb for the initial 6 months so they are out of reach.

There is such a big void of a capable smartphone in the 25 k category

The flagships will cost more than 25K. Your earlier post had a phone for 33K as well. I think the flagships will be in the 35K which will be quite close to what you are willing to spend now on the Z1. So, why drop your budget to 25K?

Check out these phones in pictures and reviews:
Sony Z2, LG G2, Moto X2, HTC One M8

If you find it worth waiting, then wait. Some of these are still work in progress, but it would take around a month for more details to come out.

They would surely have enough power to meet your growing needs for the next two years.

At the moment, only Samsung seems to be OK with removable batteries. Others are moving away from that.

You may want to consider the Nexus 5. It should be available in the 25-30k zone. I've been using the Nexus 4 for the past year and am pretty happy with its battery life.

If your storage requirements are higher you may look elsewhere as Nexus dont support external SD card.

Wow, the S5 is going to be 50k plus rupees; and only the 3G version. Total waste of money to buy it at that price.

Any phone above 30K is waste of money as you easily get all high end features in that amount. I can see within a year even a 10k phone will have all such features. Plus I didn't liked the look of S5.

Guys, Planning to by Moto G 16GB from flipkart. Can see only positive reviews everywhere. Is there anything I should be wary of Moto G?

Actually until 4G/LTE becomes widespread in India, any top end phone is a waste of money sadly.

Agree with you, though i like to change my handsets frequently but don't see any point in investing huge sum of money in so called high end smart phone.

Presently using Vodafone 3G and it is a major battery drainer , i wonder once 4G/LTE becomes common what will happen to battery life.

Now a days i toggle to 2G for a brief period to get the best out of battery and 3G comes for a short period only when its needed the most.

I have been in the same dilemma for the last 2 weeks. As much as there are positive reviews, I think one needs to be careful about the glitches that can occur with the phone. I can see many reviews, although less than 10%, mentioning various issues like camera errors, lines on the screen, battery draining etc. most of these problems have been reported widely, you could google and check. As much as it's a great phone for what you pay, I think there is a slight risk. I'm now contemplating a lumia 525 since my primary purpose is that of office emails.
