re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

The best tiniest footprint power bank + charger available in the market? Recommendation and where do I get it? I don't mind something at about 5,000 MAH capacity, but a 2A output charge is mandatory!

Is windows really that bad as people make it out to be? I have not used windows OS as yet and some people mention that it is a little behind android in terms of overall user experience.

The only phone you can replace a blackberry with, is another blackberry. Get the Z10.

I get what you mean, but since my office folks have shifted our mail server from outlook to lotus notes, blackberry doesn't hold any advantage. Secondly, with the current situation that blackberry is in, I'm not sure what kind if support one would get with regard to hardware one year down the line. Windows & androids seem far safer bets, with decent specd devices in the range of 10-12k.

My only dilemma has been whether to go with something like the moto g which is quite good for its price, but there have been numerous issues reported( typical of many android devices) or to go with lumia 525 which is much lower in terms of specs, but a lot more reliable.

Re: Who uses CDMA @ TeamBhp

This thread has just two pages, so I am not sure if I will get any response to the question, but still I will ask.

What is the bare minimum I need to spend to get a Reliance pre-paid connection?
I just need to test if voice and data works on a phone that I have just got. I understand that there is some Rs. 49 charge for the SIM (by the way, I need a nano SIM).
Then do I have to put in some talktime money (like Rs. 100)? Is that enough to test EVDO?

Sorry, but I have never used a prepaid mobile connection ever.

Edit: I found this website for high end handsets for CDMA: http://shop.rcom.co.in/index.php

Re: Who uses CDMA @ TeamBhp

I was CDMA from the pre DAPO days, but moved out the GSM (Vodafome) about a month ago. Reasons too many dropped calls, and almost no data connectivity for over three months. My son has been a late DAPO but after shifting to Gurgaon (Fortis) he had to dump it since the signal was pathetic. he is now on Airtel. Of course my Tata Photon Plus is CDMA!

Re: Who uses CDMA @ TeamBhp

I am surprised to see guys switching to CDMA. Surprised because Reliance dismantled many CDMA towers at many places. Stands true for Tata Indicom. Due to road repairs, telephone wires used to be cut often, resulting in purchase of a Tata Indicom connection & nowadays, the signal isn't available resulting in battery drain out.

CDMA connection whenever available provides good, crisp voice connection. But its fast losing relevance, at least in my part.

Re: Who uses CDMA @ TeamBhp

Technically CDMA voice should be better, but then better go with the herd. Further, except for the grey market high end CDMA phones are just not available. And then these from Verizon or Sprint USA are invariably non-RUIM, so have to be configured. This option of using 'foreign' handsets is there in RCom but not Tata.

Remember in the VCR days Betamax was technically far superior to VHS but the former ultimately went to professional usage only.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

All,

Looks like i am also in a dilemma now :(

looking for a Dual Sim phone, this is going to be my first Dual sim.

I currently have a S2 and an exowner of iphone (Thank God)

below listed are the most needed as per priority

1. Dual Sim
2. Decent Camera >8 MP
3 Battery backup.

Almost finalised on the Experia T2 Ultra Dual, but unable to find it online (except on Infibeam, the sites feedback is not good).

Moto G is ruled out because its has only 5 MP camera.

Budget <30 K.

Please let me know what my other options would be.

Thanks

Someone on TBHP had purchased this phone & was very positive about it. Check his review on this thread few pages before (or the other thread about android apps).

HappyRoadie,

thanks for the option, but looks like fate had something else decided for me.

Ordered Moto X 16 gb on Flipkart, was hoping to receive it in a day or two but item is not in stock currently and it would take 8-10 days to ship.

Cant wait to get the phone and start tinkering with it

Thanks
