Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

I have an old BB9700 that is working perfectly but the bezel etc are badly scratched over years of usage. Where can I get a new body on this from? There used to be a place in bandra called Colormii that did this but their contact number is not working anymore.

I am not looking for an fancy colors preferably OE colors or plain black again. Nor do I want to change the keypad etc.

Please suggest a place in Bandra or elsewhere in Bombay that can do the job.

I am not aware of any place as such but i was browsing on ebay and came across this. Hence sharing it here, may be this is a good solution. Get this and get it fixed at any local mobile guy or DIY.

Thanks ! I got the job done from Decent collection on Hill Road, Bandra. The phone feels brand new now, must say the quality of the outer body is almost identical to the orignal. Does not feel cheap or plasticky. Paid 1500 including fitting.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Guys have synced my iPhone to my Gmail through carddav. Now when I update contacts on my iPhone they get updated on my gmail account too. My BB contacts too are synced with gmail, but the issue is the changes on gmail don't show up on my BB. Only when I make a change on my BB does it show up on gmail. What do I do? I'm trying to figure out how to keep my BB and iPhone contacts in sync automatically. Don't mind paying for an app either.

A friend uses the bold 9790 and is not entirely satisfied with its battery life. the touch screen does consume a fair amount of battery. if you want a.phone primarily for emailing, i would advise you check out BB Curve 9320. prices around 14k and most reviews state that it does the job pretty well.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Try and get the 9780. Its a much better phone than the 9790. Or get the 9900 if you can. Why would you not want to go for it?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

thanks guys. had planned either for the curve 9360 or the bold 9790, tried looking for the 9780, its no longer manufactured i believe, found the 9900 too clunky to hold.

any other reviews on the 9790 or the 9360 would be highly appreciated.

Between a Bold and a Curve take the Bold without a second thought. They are better, more stable, and more premium feeling. Also if only for email, do spend a bit of time with the 9900, the keyboard is by far the best along with the Q10.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Still think you could find a 9780 from some dealer or ebay. The 9360 and 9790 are two weak links in the lineup.

But still if those are the two then get the 9360 and save a lot of money over the 9790. The 9790 is a disgrace to the bold name :(

Get the 9360, upgrade to latest OS. get a spare battery and problem solved

There are quite a few bold 9780 on ebay. Some claiming to be new. Do check it out.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

I have a small problem.
My dad has a 9790, and he recently took it overseas. When he removed the airtel SIM, and put in the local sim, it asked for a password. And it refused any of the passwords we created(BB etc).
Now he is back, and i popped in the original sim, and its still asking for a password.
What could be the problem here?
I am already on 9 of 10 tries, and next stop would have to be BB service presumably, unless one of you gents can help out.

Its probably asking for the Blackberry ID password. Do try and reset it here -

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Even though I am inclined to switch to a basic phone, my heart skips a a beat on the thought of owing a 9900. I feel its definately worth it and hopping the battery life lasts long. If not, a basic phone it is.

This is a security feature. This makes sure that someone has not stolen to change SIM and use it. When you change the SIM , make sure new one has blackberry plan and you remember the blackberry password. It goes to RIM for authentication. Once successful you can use it.
