I don't think Facebook 1.6 works on the 299 plan. Have been trying since ages to get it work but no luck.

Facebook DOES NOT work on the 299 plan.

Although the new Send E-mail to a facebook address so you can directly upload a photo to your Profile from where ever you are. This is quite good.

Even BB App World does not work !!

I am still loving my BB !! 8520 is too good and the BB Messanger rocks !!

Gurus,

I need to buy a BB for accessing office mail. Low on budget. I have been suggested the 8520. Some basic queries:
1. how good or bad is this model compared to other advanced ones (VFM wise)
2. it has maps but no GPS. I also intend to buy a GPS. Can I instead a buy a phone with GPS?
3. How good is the GPS in phones as compared to a Garmin?
4. Can facebook, twitter, linkedin, be accessed on 8520?
5. Where should I buy it from in Mumbai? A colleague told me redington sells it for 15250 rupees. Any cheaper options with bill and warranty?
6. How safe is ebay?

Thanks for answering.

Ciao,
D

@dushmish, why dont you look for 8900 curve? Its at a great price, 18500 at most places, redington imported. Has a better resolution, 3.2 mpx autofocus cam, gps and all other things as a plus. Ebay is safe, no issues, just check the seller's ratings before buying.

Get the 8520, there is probably one of the most VFM phones in the market.
15k pricing is on the higher side, grey market ones are available for 12.5k. However if you have someone coming down from London you could get it for slightly under 11k

Is the redington OS 5.0 released? Anyone using 5.0 on the 8900?

I have been quoted Rs. 17900 for Javelin and Rs. 29000 for BOLD 9700.
Are these price correct?

Can we upgrade the OS to 5.0 if it does not come out of the box on JAVELIN?

@Sumit,

Yes you can upgrade to OS 5.0 no issues. And the prices are good, just make sure they are Redington ones and not network logo'd blackberrys

^^
Thanks.
I will probably go for 8900. It seems more VFM than 9700.

if you do use your phone a lot i recommend you go the whole hog and get yourself the 9700. the 8900 can be painfully slow sometimes.

I have just "upgraded" to OS 5.0 and the phone is feeling very fast, the gallery is very fast, everything is working and i'm loving it!

@sumit : I'd say go for the 9700.
