Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

If used daily the laptop can be put in sleep mode instead of shutting down - eliminating shut down and boot up times. Just closing the laptop lid puts it in sleep mode - isn't it?

I used a laptop and a tablet but I preferred the lappy over the tablet. The tablet comes into picture when you think of portabilty - perfect for using it on the go. If the use is solely for indoor - I always use the laptop - eventually I sold off my tablet :( .

I thought ipad2, but would really appreciate alternatives as well.
Get him Duo. A laptop that can be used as a tablet too. There are couple of models from Dell. Its inspiron Duo or latitude duo. They are very neat to use. Check it out, its a good gadget to flaunt and does the job too as its fast.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

I bought myself a Acer Iconia A500 tablet for a steal price of 250$ as part of a special promotion. Have updated it to 3.2 and discovering android for the first time. Seems good so far. If anyone has any questions on this acer tablet, please feel free to ask.

Is the Akash tablet worth buying? If its being sold in my college, I can get it for 1.5k or get the commercial version for 3k. I don't actually need a tab, buying one for the heck of it. I will be using it only to surf net and do presentation, nothing more.

It was part of a company promotion at a friends office. Employee discount kind of. Not sure what you mean by total time of purchase, it was a just order placed and delivery in 3 days. Full warranty offered.

@josh.machine

"Not sure what you mean by total time of purchase, it was a just order placed and delivery in 3 days. Full warranty offered."

I thought some public campaign associated or clubbed with some reward point sort of thing where you make first purchase get rewarded and with other purchase you get the discount.

Any way employee discount not for me

Someone not interested...

Cheers

Any reviews on the Motorola Xoom?

I plan to gift one for my dad. I am being quoted 32k. Is it worth the buy?

Again, the Acer dosent have 3G / GSM capabilities which i am particularly looking for. Also has a 256 k display compared to 16M colors of the Motorola.
