I had met with a minor accident in my linea few months ago involving a stay dog which came running suddenly along the middle of the road and inspite of braking hard i crashed into it.
As a result broken lower grille of the car.
Price Rs.7500!
Though I was able to get one for free as they had a spare from a "total loss car"
Some time before a biker brushed against my driver orvm breaking the glass.
Price (glass) Rs.200.

I got the windscreen fixed. To my surprise, the total cost was Rs.6,700 (with insurance claim) which was half of what was quoted initially! Got a vague explanation when I asked why there was such a huge difference in the initial quote and actual price. He said that i might have misunderstood!
Apologies to forum members if i have misrepresented the details. I don't believe that this was the case, but seeing the actual price has got me confused.

Going forward, I will get a written quote from the dealer. This will serve as ample proof for reporting any discrepancies.

They are obviously making a fast buck at the expense of the insurance company, and this should be brought to the notice of the higher ups in the management.
The dealer is Concorde motors, mysore road.

Thanks for this. Drove the car before signing.

The service here is really pathetic. This was my third visit to the workshop; Once for 1st free service, the other was for correcting few niggles. Including the delivery day, I have spent at least 1-2 hours more than expected. Will write more in my initial ownership report of the Manza...

Optra accident spare parts prices - much higher than listed in ACI survey

My Optra Royale (2006 ) met with an accident - a rashly driven Scorpio damaging its right front fender, bumper, air filter, resonator, headlamp mounting . I am quoted the following prices for these ( not including tax) at SC Auto -? Would appreciate anyone helping me with some information - the Autocar survey prices seem much lower.

Part SC Auto price Autocar survey Jan 2008 price
Front Bumper 18812 2493
Right fender 7461 3815
Headlamp 6319 5913
Resonator 2766 not available

Note the dealer workshop prices dont include VAT.
Either the dealer is overcharging quoting some 2003 import price list or Autocar survey is misinformed or misleading.

This came as a nasty surprise to me . I had just bought a Laura TSI and given this Optra to my wife because I really could not sell off a well maintained car at ridiculous prices. I had (naively) thought Optra was inexpensive on maintenance based on my 3 year accident free , repairs free record. I had no reason to believe the workshop overcharges.

I would appreciate anyone with better information to take a min to tell me if there is something shady in these prices. Thanks in advance.

Ironically I had transfered the NCB from this car to the new Laura !

The Bumper for Spark is around 1000 bucks excluding taxes. Painting charges should be extra. You'll find the spares list prices in the chevy spark website.

It is weird as loosing coolant might be bacause of various other factors and rarely a busted head

Petrol or diesel? . i think it is petrol right?

it is better to get rid of the palio rather than giving it a better head!!

I had the ignition coil replaced on my car and thought its better i update it here for the benefit of other members.

Car : Ford Ikon 1.3 Petrol
Cost at the dealer : > Rs. 5000/-
Cost from spare parts dealer : Rs. 2500/-
Part number : A988F12029AD
Brand : Magnetarelli

Since the ignition coil is among the most common sore points on the Ikon, this would be useful when procuring it from outside.

Yeah, its a Petrol alright.
I dont think my friend would get rid of the car at all. She's too emotionally attached to it more than anything/anyone else. She cried, the moment she heard about the root-cause.

If there are no tell-tale signs of the coolant, chances are the leakage is somewhere in the engine. I had the same problem in my Bolero and the leak was located to the cylinder sleeve. Anyways I got an entire engine replacement for that. I would suggest getting a used head ratherthan procuring a brand new one. You should be able to get one for 2-3 grand.

Palio GTX gear cable

I was quoted Rs. 1860 for the Palio GTX gear cable. I definitely feel it is on the higher side.

Has anyone replaced the same recently or have any idea about the price?
TIA!

It would be helpful if anybody who has Toyota Innova diesel spare part price list uploads it here. I already have that of Ritz, but now need the same for Innova. Our M800 is getting old and is spending more time in garage than on the road, so we will either buy Ritz or Innova.
