^^ ACI does publish a comparative list of spare part prices of all the cars sold in India every year. It includes parts used for service, frequently used parts, accidental repair parts and critical parts like AC Compressor etc.

I am posting a few figures from the ACI July 2010 issue that has a wide list of spare parts of many cars sold in India. I am confused by the spare part prices of Fortuner. Fortuner spare parts are sometimes even more expensive than LC200 Amazon which is a CBU. The ORVM in Fortuner is more expensive than LC Prado diesel, and LC Prado diesel is a CBU. The front bumper of Fortuner is expensive than even the front bumper of LC200 Amazon.

I feel that Toyota is trying to cheat Indian customers here by pricing the spare parts like bumper and ORVM ( which are more likely to be replaced ) higher than LC series.

Part Fortuner LC Prado D LC200 Amazon
AirFilter 1150 1140
Fr. BrakePads (4) 4213 4097
Front Bumper 12863 9919 12155
Front Door 30796 25680
Boot Lid 33047 28466 35259
Headlamp Asbly w/bulb 20300 14976 20818
Taillamp asbly w/bulb 6448 4877
ORVM w/casing each 15019 6182

Innova Fortuner
Lower Arm 6241 2617

LC Prado D LC200 Amazon
Front Disc/Drum 8584 8243
Front Strut/Shock Absorber 12196 12033
Timing Belt/Chain 3903 3456
Fuel Filter 2207 1206
Radiator 47438 41994

1) Prado brake pads are cheaper than fortuner.

2) Shocking! Front bumper of LC200, a CBU, is cheaper than Fortuner! Another CBU, the Prado is again cheaper than Fortuner!

3) Both, LC200 and LC Prado Diesel are CBU, and LC200 has a larger motor, but still the price of radiator is less than Prado, which incidently shares motor with Fortuner. Note than Innova and Fortuner have similar radiators.

4) Fortuner door is more expensive than Prado.Weird..

5) Prado again has cheaper bootlid than Fortuner.

6) Another shock.Prado headlight assembly is cheapest of the three SUVs. Difference between Fortuner headlight assembly and LC200 headlight assembly is Rs. 518, LC200 headlight assembly being costlier than Fortuner by Rs. 518.

7) Prado tail light assembly is cheaper than Fortuner.

8) I am Baffled! Prado side mirror with casing costs less than Fortuner. The differnece is Rs. 8837! Fortuner side mirror is more than twice as expensive as Prado mirror.

9) Innova lower arm is expensive than Fortuner. I find it a bit weird. Fortuner is an SUV with more weight and is AWD. Still the lower arm is cheaper than Innova.

10) Prado front disc is cheaper than LC200 by Rs.341. A bit weird IMO. LC200 is bigger vehicle with more weight.

11) Prado front shock absorber is priced higher than LC200.

12) Timing belt/chain of LC200 is cheaper than LC Prado Diesel by Rs. 447. Again, Prado is 3.0 ltr. Inline diesel where as LC200 is V8 diesel.

13) Prado fuel filter is more expensive than LC200.

PS : If there is/are any mistake/s, do point out.

Fiat has put up the list for sedans in Linea range on their site - because they have the lowest prices:

Affordable Spare Parts, Guaranteed!!

Diesel: Linea, Fiesta, Verna

Petrol: Linea, City, Fiesta, Verna, SX4

^^ The same holds true for the Punto as well. Punto spares are cheaper than the i20, I am not sure about the Polo, but have a hunch that Polo parts would be very expensive. Reason being the low localization till date.

ACI july issue is disagreeing you all the way and of course, with the data. It's at per with punto. Check it out! Someone over here also has uploaded a scanned of those pages. But not, it is still there or not.

Thanks for correcting me, but in case you didn't notice, you quoted me selectively. I said, I have a hunch (guess) that Polo parts would be more expensive due to a reason.

I am happy to hear that it is not, and am very curious about the actual prices. Can you kindly share the spare costs of the Polo, I already have the one for the Punto, I'll be able to compare.

@Mohandas - thanks for the link.

The spare parts price of the Polo is nearly identical to the Fabia except the following:

1. Clutch and pressure plate
2. Front suspension arm
3. Clutch release bearing
4. Side mirror

This does give some indication of the ownership cost of the Polo - which is pretty OK, I believe.
